Lunch To Last Call: AOAO’s Central Rooftop Is Back

Rooftop Sandos, Sharing Plates & Sunset Drinks

Updated: October 30, 2026

Wagyu Sandos, Sunset Views & DJs: The New AOAO Is Here QUEENS ROAD CENTRAL HONG KONG

AOAO is back, and it looks completely different. The 5,000-square-foot rooftop at Manning House on Queen’s Road Central has had a full renovation and a new concept to go with it. It’s now a social club built around “One Roof, All Day,” which basically means you can show up for lunch and stay until the DJ wraps up. The interiors are retro-futurist. Modern Asian sharing plates start at noon, the cocktail list comes in three parts (there are mocktails too), and the music runs across two zones. It’s mellow in the daytime and turns up once the sun goes down.

Check out AOAO's new look here

You don’t need a membership, and nobody’s checking a guest list. Grab a few friends, order too many plates and see where the day takes you. A quick lunch could easily become sunset drinks, then dinner, then “okay, one more.”

What We’ll Be Ordering At AOAO

  • Sandos, obviously: We’re getting the best-selling Wagyu Katsu Sando, no question. We’re also adding the new Satay Beef Sando (minced Angus with Hong Kong-style satay sauce) and the Tonkatsu Pork Sando (Iberico pork with melted cheddar and mozzarella). Three sandos for the table is reasonable. We’re sharing.
  • A cha chaan teng fix: The Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab with egg yolk purée and salted egg yolk is a must, and so is the Sweet & Sour Iberico Pork. It’s classic Hong Kong comfort food, just a bit fancier.
  • Plates for the middle of the table: Slow-Cooked Quail Breast with salted kelp and Sichuan pepper, Sukiyaki Hanger Steak and Lemongrass Pork Skewers. We’ll also get the Mushroom and Pork Ravioli in tonkotsu broth, and someone will definitely fight over the last one.
  • Carbs: The Mentaiko Pasta and the Hairy Crab Kettle Rice. It’s hairy crab season, so we’re not skipping that one.
  • Dessert, even though we’re full: The house-made Egg Waffle with Tofu Ice Cream and wildflower honey. There’s always room for egg waffle.
  • And if we stay a while: There’s a set lunch and an all-day menu. Later on it switches to happy-hour snacks and then late-night bites, so we won’t go hungry even if lunch turns into last call.

Want more Central Fun?

Why Little Steps Loves It:

Because "One Roof, All Day" actually works. You can turn up for a lazy lunch of sandos and sharing plates and still be there when the sun sets over Central, cocktail (or mocktail) in hand. The menu mixes cha chaan teng favourites with modern Asian dishes, so there's comfort food for the person who always orders the same thing and something new for the friend who wants to try everything. Grab a booth for a proper catch-up, or head out to the terrace when you want the views and a bit more buzz.

Who It's Perfect For:

Friends who need a long, lazy catch-up with nowhere to rush off to. Anyone who wants a Central lunch that runs into after-work drinks, or after-work drinks that run into dinner. Groups celebrating a birthday, a promotion or just making it to Friday, who want good food, a view and the option to stay late. It's also a good choice for families with older kids or teens at lunch. It's less ideal if you're after a quiet night in, because things get louder once the DJs start.
