Stunning Waterfront Playground and Free Family Fun in Macau

Macao Waterfront Playground In Macao + Kids playing at Kun Iam Statue Waterfront Leisure Area playground in Macau

Stretching along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen from the Macao Science Centre to the iconic golden Kun Iam Statue, the Kun Iam Statue Waterfront Leisure Area is a 15,000-square-meter outdoor haven that opened in May 2021. This modern leisure park sits right by the Pearl River Delta’s banks, offering breathtaking waterfront scenery and a perfect mix of active fun and relaxed family time.

Little Steps Insider Tip: Visit in the cooler morning or late afternoon to beat the heat, and bring a change of clothes or wipes—kids often get delightfully messy (and happy!) on the ropes and trampolines.

The entire area is free to enter and open daily. The walking trail and general space are always accessible, while the kids’ playground, roller skating rink, gateball court, and multi-functional courts run from 7:00am–11:00pm.

What’s The Big Highlight?  Macao’s Amazing Playground On The Waterfront

  • Playground + Roller Skating + Courts: The highlight for kids is the massive 2,700-square-meter state-of-the-art playground, thoughtfully divided into zones for different ages. Younger children (toddlers and preschoolers) enjoy swings, a merry-go-round, small trampolines, and gentle climbers, while older kids (roughly 5–12) tackle ropes, obstacle courses, slides, climbing frames, tunnels, and more to build motor skills and coordination. Parents love that the whole family can stay in one spot—no running between separate parks!
  • Walking Trails: Beyond the playground, families can stroll the 400-meter walking trail (great for strollers), enjoy the roller skating rink, multifunctional courts (first-come, first-served), gateball area, and outdoor fitness equipment.
  • Shade + Snacks + Food: Along the path, you’ll find convenient lockers, vending machines with refreshments, plenty of seating, restrooms, and hand-washing stations. A glasshouse next to the playground adds extra shaded seating and more snacks.

Why Little Steps Loves It:

This is a true hidden gem for Macau families—a modern, thoughtfully designed space that feels like a resort playground but costs nothing. The age-separated zones mean siblings of different ages can all play safely nearby, and the waterfront setting adds that magical “wow” factor with views of the statue and harbor.

Want something in the area?  The Macao Science Centre is so much fun for kids.

Who It's Perfect For:

Families with children of all ages, especially those with toddlers to tweens who love outdoor active play. Ideal for weekend mornings, after-school energy burns, or a relaxed sunset stroll with kids.

What Else:

The area is stroller-friendly along the main paths, with restrooms available (though dedicated baby-changing facilities aren’t explicitly noted—bring portable options just in case). Parking is available nearby in the N.A.P.E. area, but it can fill up on weekends—consider public transport or arriving early.
