The cuddliest art pop-up in town is back. Australian artist Cj Hendry is bringing her much-loved Juju to Hong Kong again, this time as the new Juju Mega collection. It’s free to visit and runs for four days only, so mark your calendars.
What’s it all about?
If your little ones (or you!) fell for Juju at the Phillips pop-up last December or at the Juju World installation at Pacific Place this summer, they’re in for a treat. Juju Mega is Hendry’s sixth big art project in Hong Kong. Visitors can step into a soft, lilac-coloured plush space on Wellington Street that feels like one giant, warm hug. It’s a calm, happy spot that brings back the simple joy of being a kid.
As the name suggests, Juju Mega is a supersized version of Hendry’s rabbit-like figure. It measures 30.5 cm x 23 cm, which is big enough for a proper cuddle. It keeps the signature look: soft, rounded lines, oversized drooping ears and a leather flower covering one eye.
The collection comes in 10 colourways. At the pop-up, you choose the exact colour you want, so there are no blind-box surprises. Each Juju Mega costs HK$620 and comes in a dust bag and a collectible metal tin. Like other Jujus, it also includes a fold-out poster and stickers. You can buy up to 10 per order, so collectors can go for the full set. As with every Juju release, once it sells out it will never be restocked, so if a colour catches your eye, grab it.
Can’t make it?
Juju Mega goes on sale worldwide in blind boxes at CjHendryStudio.com from 7pm New York time on 1 November, which is 8am on 2 November in Hong Kong. This is the first-ever online Juju Mega drop. Online, each one costs US$79, comes in a blind box (presented in a dust bag), and is limited to 4 per order. Shipping is a flat US$20 worldwide, with customs and duties included.
