As of January 26, 2026, 16 new direct destinations in China join the network, making quick cultural escapes, beach days, and history hunts incredibly simple. No more long drives or transfers – just hop on at West Kowloon, relax in comfy seats, and arrive ready for fun. Perfect for weekends away or school-holiday adventures with the kids!

These new stops unlock more of mainland China’s best family spots, from ancient cities to scenic parks. Pro tip: Kids under 6 travel free on laps, and child tickets are discounted – book early from January 12 via the MTR site for best seats!

Here are the 16 newly added destinations with quick family highlights and approximate travel times from Hong Kong West Kowloon (times may vary slightly by train):

  • Nanjingnan (Nanjing South): Historic capital with ancient city walls, fun museums, and indoor theme parks. Approx. 7.5–9 hours
  • Wuxidong (Wuxi East): Lakeside vibes, cherry blossom parks, and family-friendly gardens. Approx. 7–8 hours
  • Hefeinan (Hefei South): Science centers, ancient towns, and green playgrounds. Approx. 7–8 hours
  • Miluodong: Scenic nature spots and easy walks for little explorers. Approx. 8+ hours
  • Quanzhoudong & Quanzhounan (Quanzhou): UNESCO maritime history, temples, and kid-friendly streets. Approx. 4–5 hours
  • Huidong: Coastal relaxation and beach playtime. Approx. 4–5 hours
  • Huizhounan (Huizhou South): Wetlands, beaches, and outdoor adventures. Approx. 1.5–2.5 hours
