Animal-Themed Rooftop Playground With A 6m Slide, Plus What Parents Need To Know

Updated: October 14, 2026

new free indoor animal-themed playground in kwun tong

There’s a new place for kids to run around in East Kowloon. The Anderson, Link REIT’s new neighbourhood mall in the Anderson Road Development Area, opened on 13 October 2026, and its biggest draw for families is on the roof. Pawsitive Park is a 25,000 sq ft open-air play space with an animal theme. It has a Multi Play Station, a Slide Tower with a slide about 6 metres tall, a Platypus Play Zone, and a Trampoline & Sensory Play Zone. It’s also pet-friendly, so the family dog can come along.

Little Steps Insider Tip: There’s very little shade up here, so bring hats, sunscreen and water, and skip the midday heat. When it gets too hot, head down to the indoor atrium or the food street to cool off.

What To Do Nearby?

The Anderson sits in the middle of the fast-growing Anderson Road residential area, close to On Tat, On Tai, Sau Mau Ping and Po Tat estates. After playtime:

  • Fresh Park on the ground floor is the district’s largest food street, with 13 snack stalls. It’s great for after-school treats or picking up dinner
  • The mall itself has three storeys of everyday shops
  • The indoor atrium is good for a cooler break
  • McDonald’s is billed as Hong Kong’s “second highest-altitude” branch, a fun fact for curious kids
  • Nearby Link malls: Sau Mau Ping Shopping Centre and Po Tat Shopping Centre are close by if you want more shops or food

Play Highlights At Pawsitive Park That Families Love

  • Free entry: no tickets, no booking, just turn up and play
  • Animal-themed play zones: the Multi Play Station, the Slide Tower (with its ~6m slide), the Platypus Play Zone, and the Trampoline & Sensory Play Zone
  • More to explore: local reports also mention a hide-and-seek tower, a slide house, and climbing and bouncing areas
  • Pet-friendly space: one of the few mall playgrounds where the family dog is welcome too
  • Open rooftop views: wide views across East Kowloon, especially lovely at sunset
  • Easy to combine with errands: the market and food street are right downstairs, so play and chores fit into one trip

Is Pawsitive Park free to visit?

Yes. Entry to Pawsitive Park on the rooftop of The Anderson is free with no tickets or booking needed. Families can walk in after school or on weekends for the animal-themed play zones and the tall slide.

Is Pawsitive Park pet-friendly?

Yes, the family dog is welcome. It is one of the few mall playgrounds in the area that is pet-friendly, so kids and pets can play together in the open rooftop space. For more dog-friendly spots see Little Steps Asia’s dog parks guide.

How do I get to Pawsitive Park at The Anderson?

Pawsitive Park is on the rooftop of The Anderson mall at 9 On Kin Road in the Anderson Road Development Area near the Kwun Tong / Sai Kung border. It serves families in On Tat, On Tai, Sau Mau Ping and Po Tat estates and is an easy walk for local residents.

Is Pawsitive Park safe for kids in the sun?

There is very little shade on the true rooftop, so equipment heats up quickly on sunny or humid days. Pack hats, sunscreen and water, and plan shorter visits in the morning or late afternoon. If children overheat, head to the indoor atrium for a cooler break.

What ages is Pawsitive Park good for?

It suits toddlers to primary-school kids who enjoy slides, trampolines and animal-themed zones such as the Multi Play Station, Platypus Play Zone and the roughly 6-metre Slide Tower. It is less ideal for very young babies on hot days or anyone wanting a fully shaded all-day park.

Why Little Steps Loves It:

A free, decent-sized outdoor playground has arrived in a fast-growing residential area that previously lacked big mall play options. The animal theme and slide give kids something to burn energy on, and it’s right above everyday shops and a fresh market - convenient for parents who need to combine errands with play. Just go in with realistic expectations about the sun.

Who It's Perfect For:

Local families in On Tat, On Tai, Sau Mau Ping or Po Tat who want a free after-school or weekend run-around. Good for toddlers to primary-school kids who like slides and trampolines. Less ideal for very young babies on hot days or anyone expecting a shaded, all-day park.

How To Get There

The Anderson isn't next to an MTR station, so getting there takes a bit of planning if you're coming from outside the area. Once you arrive, though, it's well connected to the estates around it.

  • By bus from Choi Hung MTR: The easiest route for most visitors is to take the MTR to Choi Hung and change to KMB route 19. Get off at the On Kin Road stop, then take the lift up to the mall entrance. Route 19 runs daily, roughly 6am to 1am.
  • Other bus routes: KMB 13 links Anderson with Sham Shui Po, but it only runs on weekdays during peak hours. KMB 600 runs between Anderson and Central, but its hours are limited too. Check times before you rely on either one.
  • Green minibuses: Several minibus routes serve the Anderson Road area. Look up current routes on Citymapper, Google Maps or the HKeMobility app.
  • On foot from nearby estates: Footbridges and lift towers connect the mall to On Tat, On Tai and Sau Mau Ping, so it's mostly step-free and good for strollers. Link says residents of the five nearby HOS estates can walk there in about 10 minutes.
  • By taxi: If you're coming from further away with little ones, a taxi from Kwun Tong, Ngau Tau Kok or Choi Hung MTR is the quickest door-to-door option.

Little Steps Tip: From Choi Hung, the trip is a quick bus ride and a lift, with no big hill to push a stroller up. Once you're inside, use the mall lifts to get up to Pawsitive Park on the roof.
