Going to the dentist can be a stressful experience for parents and children alike, and finding a good orthodontist at a young age who can help prevent expensive dental issues when your child grows up is key. Below is a list of our favorite orthodontists in Hong Kong who all go the extra mile to provide the most comfortable experience possible for your children.
Diestel & Partners is a Hong Kong stalwart and has operated out of their Central clinic for over 40 years. They are now part of the Diestel Dental Group that includes four dental clinics across Hong Kong. All the clinics are equipped with the latest technology and material to provide an entire range of services from Orthodontics to Pediatric Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Implants, Oral Surgery and Endodontic treatment. With all general and specialist dentists under one roof, they strive to provide a comfortable, friendly experience for kids and patients of all ages. They focus on educating children on the importance of oral hygiene from a young age, hoping to embed good practices as early as possible and are happy to prioritize emergency appointments on the same day.
Situated in the heart of Central, Dr. Chan & Partners provide a full range of dental services with an internationally trained team of GPs, specialists, hygienists, and nurses. They aim to make the whole experience as stress-free for kids as possible with a special aquatic-themed room, fun aprons, little sunglasses for kids to wear during the procedures, and cartoons playing on the ceiling-mounted televisions.
The Orthodontic & Children’s Dental Center was established in 1995 and focuses on building long-term relationships with families to educate kids early on the importance of good oral hygiene. Children under the age of 10 focus on simple treatments that minimize the need for more invasive treatment as they get older. These include issues such as under or overbites, severe crowding, weak chin, or traumatic occlusion, amongst others. For older children aged 10-18, they focus on functional appliances, expanders, and protraction headgear, as well as braces (still very much a rite of passage for teens!).
Central Smile is a highly rated, Central-based clinic that features a range of services, including pediatric dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implants, orthodontics, and even dentistry for individuals with special needs (quite a rare service in Hong Kong). Most of their dentists can cater to children and families, and they have a playroom for the little ones while they are waiting and a PlayStation for the older teens! Ask for Dr. Derek Baram, a specialist in orthodontics and known for being particularly family-friendly.
As their name suggests, the dentists at American Dental Partners have been trained in the United States. The clinic focuses on Invisalign Alignment, an effective way to straighten teeth without the metal. A pretty upscale clinic, the reception lounge somewhat resembles a hotel lobby, and kids can catch up on their favorite cartoons while waiting in the Kids Corner. Flatscreen TVs set up with Netflix are mounted to the ceilings in each of their dental suites.
A dental institution in Hong Kong, Bayley & Jackson has provided dental services to Hong Kongers for over 50 years. Orthodontic services include braces, invisible orthodontics (such as Invisalign), as well as treatment for malocclusions. Not only do they provide exceptional dental services, but they have also been recognized for their environmental and community efforts as well as contributions to dental education.
Bayley & Jackson, Podium Level, 2/F, 210-218 Jardine House, 1 Connaught Place, Central, +852 2526 1061, (additional locations in Repulse Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok), firstname.lastname@example.org, www.bjdental.com
As the name suggests, Dental Specialists Group does not practice general dentistry and instead focuses on three specializations – periodontics, orthodontics, and endodontics. Here, specialists will work closely with your regular dentist, who will brief them on your history and the specific issues which require their expertise. Regarding orthodontics, they particularly focus on intercepting bite issues in young children before they get more serious and harder to correct later in life.
With two locations in Tsim Sha Tsui and Tseung Kwan O, Conrad Dental Care Center provides excellent care at prices that won’t break the bank. You may not get the fancy waiting rooms or ceiling-mounted flatscreen TVs, but dentists are known to be straightforward and honest in terms of recommended treatments. The clinic provides general dental services, oral surgery, cosmetic surgery, and orthodontics (both conventional orthodontics and invisible aligners such as Invisalign).
Conrad Dental Care Center, Room 701-3, 7/F, Hong Kong Pacific Center, 28 Hankow Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, +852 2786 0011, (the second clinic in Tseung Kwan O), email@example.com, www.conrad-dental.com
Hoaglin Dental follows a philosophy that “all dental treatment is to be based on a diagnosis developed from a detailed examination and risk assessment.” Offering a range of services from general teeth cleaning and check-ups to orthodontic and implant restoration, they also focus on education and how to prevent serious dental issues through proper nutrition. Factsheets on everything from crowns, tooth decay, oral piercings, and the importance of flossing are available for download on their website. The clinic also features a special children’s treatment room complete with little toys and TVs to distract the kiddos during their appointments.
An upscale boutique clinic, Crown Dental Studio was founded by Dr. Eugene Cheung and offers a wholly customized dental experience. Perhaps more for older teens than younger children, the clinic offers a range of services from basic hygiene and aligner orthodontics to sleep apnea therapy and jaw pain management. Dr. Cheung is known to have a wonderful bedside manner, taking his time with patients and approaching treatment thoughtfully and patiently.
