At CIS the kindergarten day is carefully designed to allow a balance of engaging learning both indoors and out. See firsthand how the children learn with CIS’ inquiry-based and purposeful play approach and chat with teachers to gain insight into Kindergarten life.

Fun Activities in the Outdoor Discovery Centre
Families will have the opportunity to try four fun teacher-led activity stations in numeracy, literacy, arts and STEAM. These stations feature hands-on activities to stimulate your child’s creativity, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to have a glimpse of the learning that happens in and out of their classrooms every day.

Engaging Learning in and out of the Classroom
Learning happens best when children are having fun and making discoveries for themselves about things that interest them, in a hands-on, real-world way. Senior Kindergarten students were recently learning all about light. They made stained-glass-inspired decorations for the outdoor gazebo skylights in their integrated arts class.

They saw the sunlight shining through the skylights and tracked its progress across the floor during the day, which links to time, and orientation skills. Their homeroom and art learning are integrated, engaging with an element of surprise and magic, says Visual Arts Lead, Caitlin Richardson.

Four Fun Stations to Try
At the Arts Station on Discovery Day, children will be using sustainable student-made watercolours to create magical sheets that can be transformed into flowers, dragons, fairies or anything else your child can imagine. This exploration teaches children about colour mixing, 2D vs 3D modeling and strengthens their fine motor skills through the squeezing of droppers and the twisting of paper all while engaging their imagination and stimulating their creativity.

The aim is to develop each child’s potential and equip them with the necessary skills (physical, emotional and intellectual) to succeed through their school life and beyond as the world changes.

There will also be a chance to tour the various facilities within the Kindergarten wing, including the junior gym, indoor swimming pool, library, instructional bakery, black box theatre, and much more!
