For an authentic experience in Seminyak, visit one of its majestic temples. Pura Petitenget Temple, a historic Hindu Sea Temple, is known for warding off evil spirits. The temple is adorned with glittering lights and colorful lanterns during religious festivals. Another notable temple is Pura Masceti, an agricultural temple where local farmers pray. Visiting these temples offers insight into the spiritual life of the locals. Remember to follow 'temple etiquette' when visiting with your family.
Pura Petitenget Temple
The name Petitenget Temple is derived from the words "Petit" (Crate) and "Tenget" (Haunted), signifying a place meant to trap evil spirits and protect the islanders. This centuries-old temple was constructed in the 16th century by a priest named Dhang Hyang Dwijendra. It was built to ward off a plague in the local area, believed to be caused by a local giant guarding treasure. Once the temple was constructed, the plague ceased.
Petitenget Temple, or Pura Petitenget, is one of the few cultural landmarks in Seminyak. To reach the temple's vast courtyard, you must climb stairs made of red bricks adorned with dragon carvings. According to the local calendar, the temple is best visited during the Piodolan anniversary celebrations every 210 days. The small pavilions are draped with traditional Balinese checkered cloths during these celebrations.

Masceti Temple, one of Bali's nine directional temples, is in Masceti Beach. It is a top attraction in Bali, about 1.5 hours from Denpasar. The temple features a beautiful Balinese entrance facing the beach, various shrines, and artistically carved stone sculptures.
Masceti Temple is dedicated to Vishnu, the God of Creation, who once had a relationship with Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, Prosperity, Fortune, and Beauty. They often visited Masceti Beach for discussions until a quarrel led to their separation. Lakshmi then divided the beach into Masceti Beach and Saba Beach. According to the myth, couples should avoid visiting the temple and the beach to prevent separation.
