The Tamagotchi Ring Has Landed, And Here’s How To Get One In Hong Kong

If you spent the late ’90s smuggling a beeping plastic egg into your Primary 4 classroom, this one’s for you. Bandai has just unveiled the Tamagotchi ring — officially the smallest Tamagotchi ever made, designed to be worn on your finger like jewellery. It’s the brand’s 30th anniversary flex, and it’s extremely cute.

What Is It?

A fully functioning colour-screen Tamagotchi, mounted on a ring band. At 28mm tall with a 0.56-inch colour LCD, it’s roughly half the size of the original 1996 keychain — and it took Bandai two years to engineer. You still feed, clean, play mini-games and decorate your pet’s room, so it’s the full experience, not a novelty. Because there’s no room for a USB port, it comes with its own charging base (think wireless earbuds) — a Tamagotchi first.  The nostalgia hook: you can raise 30 legacy characters spanning three decades, including Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, Memetchi and Lovelitchi — plus secret ones you unlock depending on how you raise your pet.

Where To Get One In Hong Kong

Straight talk: the first pre-order wave is a Premium Bandai Japan exclusive, and no HK release has been confirmed. But there are options.

• HobbyDigi — the Hong Kong-based hobby retailer (with SF Express pickup points across the city and free local shipping over HK$600) — was taking pre-orders for all three colourways, but the window has since closed. The good news: the listing is still live, and you can sign up for notifications in case a second allocation opens up. Worth doing — this is by far the easiest local route, with no proxy fees or international shipping to juggle.
• Premium Bandai Hong Kong is the other one to watch for an official, HKD-priced unit. It already stocks recent Tamagotchi devices and typically picks up Japanese releases on a delay, so set up an account and switch on alerts.
• Proxy services like Buyee, ZenMarket and Neokyo will order from Japan on your behalf. Factor in commission and shipping — realistically HK$600–900 all in.

Once units land in 2027, expect them at the Mong Kok and Jordan toy specialists (Sino Centre, In’s Point, CTMA Centre) at a markup. Toys”R”Us HK — including the adult-focused “Playful Living” store at K11 Art Mall in TST — is worth asking about too.

Parent Check

Sizing matters most. The band fits Japanese ring sizes 10–14 (roughly US 5–7) with an adjustable spacer — that’s a teen-to-adult fit. It will likely be too big for younger children’s fingers. If you’re buying for an under-10, a standard Tamagotchi is the smarter call. Also note the tiny screen may frustrate little ones, the charging base is easily lost, and delivery isn’t until early 2027.
