Renting a Bali Villa though, can sometimes be tricky and more expensive than you initially expected. Not to worry!
We have done all the research and here are some tips and advice before you book your dream Bali Villa and… Happy Villa hunting!
Why not? Bali Villas offer you more space, privacy, exclusivity and value for money in the same price range, if not lower, of other Western resorts and hotels on the island.
Plus, if you are traveling for longer than a week with kids or in a group larger than two, a Villa can end up as a bargain in cost and convenience. Almost all stand-alone Villas come with pools, gardens, and full-time staff including a round-the-clock cook, housekeeper, gardener, and babysitter. Other standard features include air-conditioning, kitchens, stereo systems, satellite televisions, and IDD telephones. Most also include an airport pickup and transfer.
Bali is beautiful. But in peak seasons it can get really busy and expensive. July and August are usually the busiest periods of the peak season with many families holidaying during school holidays and the same can be said for the Christmas/New Year period. Off peak seasons are cheaper in an attempt to attract more visitors and you can find some of the best deals in terms of Villa rentals between March and October.
Keep in mind that Bali has two seasons – a wet and a dry. The dry season runs April – September and is the best time to visit weather wise. The wet season is October – March. In the wet season, expect a huge downpour every day, usually after midday that may affect your plans for tours and days out.
Whenever you decide to visit the island, make sure you use a good mosquito repellent and mosquito nets at night, since dengue fever is present in Bali!
Kuta/Legian, Kerobokan, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Lovina, Ubud, Sanur, Nusa Dua. Take your pick. Accommodation options are plenty and you will not have problems finding something perfect for your needs! Sanur is a slower paced version of the Kuta / Legian / Seminyak while being closer to the rest of Bali and a popular destination for families because the beach is protected by a reef, meaning that the water is calm and shallow – making it the perfect spot for kids.
Ubud on the other hand, located inland and known for being the cultural heart of Bali, is a beautiful town with fabulous attractions, surrounded by rice terraces. It’s a great place to chill and just hang out as a family with a completely different vibe to the beach towns.
Prices per night for Bali Villas come in all 3, 4 and 5 digit numbers depending on the season (low or peak), location and your requests!
For example, a newly built, 3BDR Villa in Canggu with private pool, air-conditioning, high speed Internet, daily housekeeping and airport pick up would cost you from USD $160/night and above.
Before booking and paying for a Villa make sure you have a budget and be ready to bargain especially if you are planning to book for more than a week. Make sure you have in mind specific requirements (kitchen, WIFI, air conditioning, hot water, cable TV, daily housekeeping) and don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
Family Villas are an excellent option but keep in mind that the pools are rarely fenced and many of the Villas are “open air” meaning there may be no wall between your living area and your pool. This may not be a concern for those with older kids but can cause headaches for those of with toddlers or younger kids. Pool fences can be hired or you can just hire a Villa that is fully enclosed so that the kids can’t accidentally end up in the pool.
