The pilot KinderArt progam’s first exhibition, “Little Artists@Work”, showcased collaboration between students from Pre-Nursery One (PN1) and Kindergarten Two (K2), who joined forces to craft a three-piece mural using recycled materials. This provided them with an opportunity to experiment with various colors and collage materials.
Capturing the imagination and creativity of the children, the mural features portraits of famous artists and musicians, including modern art masters Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian.
Delving into Picasso’s artworks can aid children in honing their storytelling skills through art, mirroring his own practice. Additionally, Picasso’s use of geometric shapes and simplified forms can enhance a child’s grasp of shapes, spatial relationships, and proportions.
Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, often utilized straight lines, primary colors, and black and white to symbolize the essence of life in his drawings. His artworks extend children’s learning beyond art, as they were introduced to mathematical concepts such as symmetry, patterns and spatial relationships.
