The brand new 5,500 square feet Hong Kong Children’s Discovery Museum will officially reopen its doors on March 18, 2023! The CDM features more than 30 customized interactive exhibits which offer play-based learning experiences specifically designed for children under the age of 10 and serving different educational purposes depending on each child’s developmental stage. The museum is now distributed into 8 theme zones (previously 4), targeting different learning areas like language and literacy, science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.), culture, and environmental awareness/stewardship.
Prepare for a world of tinkering, play, and creativity while sparking a lifelong interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and math! Book your tickets here! Also don’t miss their new Friends and Weekday Play Package opening offer!
Be sure to check out their website for workshop packages for toddlers and kids!
What to bring:
This exhibit allows the little ones to experiment with unique tools and materials related to S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) while developing essential skills like problem solving. Also features the Nüdel Kart, a large educational deconstructable play cart that was awarded the prestigious Good Design Award in Australia (ideal for kids 3-10 years)
This zone is specifically targeted at environmental protection awareness, as it allows kids to participate in hands-on activities and explore the wonders of nature. Also teaches kids how to become more engaged in protecting the environment and teaches them about recycling, landfills and more.
Kids getting a bit too overwhelmed by all the fun? This is a quiet sensory nook that brings calm and relaxation and engages their senses, enabling them to see, feel and touch their surroundings.
Splash! Undeniably one of the most popular exhibits, here kids can experiment with water to see how a dam, water fountain, and other pipes and contraptions work. This play-based learning experience teaches them about water cycles and flow and hydrodynamics. Also features the Water Wall where kids can spray water to their heart's content onto the windows while understanding the flow of water.
A fabulous area dedicated to transport-loving toddlers that will engage their senses exploring mini versions of our city’s various modes of transportation and unique landmarks (ideal for kids 0-3 years).
Set like a movie stage, here our little budding actors can make, direct, and role-play a story of their own choosing! Even features a green screen to allow their imagination and creativity to run wild!
Put their artistic skills to the test as they create their masterpieces using paint and more materials! Here they can paint to a small or large scale, and even on the windows!
This space is ideally designed for kids under 3 who can climb, allowing them to develop their gross-motor skills amongst the city's replicas of iconic landmarks.
A museum dedicated 100% to kids and learning through play!!
Families of all ages! The museum's exhibits are designed for kids 10 and under.
HKCDM offers various workshop packages monthly. Currently they have a new opening offer of "Friends +Weekday Play Package"! Check their site for updates!
