We are not sure about you, but during the summer heat in Hong Kong, we live in our sandals. And we’ve got them categorized too: sandals for wet weather when it’s pouring out, sandals for the beach, sandals for running errands in the city, sandals for a cute summery dress, formal sandals, the list goes on! And guess what, we’ve put them all in here in this ultimate women’s guide to sandals for summer 2023.
But first: Best Nail Salons In Hong Kong For Perfect Pedicures
When it comes to sandals for the beach (or flip-flops or tongs depending on where you're from), Havaianas is usually the first brand that comes to mind thanks to their colorful hues and different and comfortable designs. There are several retailers which stock them like Escapade, and they also have a stand-alone shop in IFC. We also love these Gia Borghini rubber slides as well as these Reef gemstone tongs. For an elevated pool party or junk, look no further than these gorgeous Bottega Veneta slides in their signature green.
Don't want to ruin your heels walking to work? Or just need some simple sandals for running errands in Hong Kong? Then we've got you covered! Birkenstocks are back in full force this year and are a very comfortable and safe option for walking around our at times uneven and hilly city streets. We especially love the new colors and options this year like these silver ones which go with anything, or the Milano reptile leather embossed ones. Geox shoes are known for their comfort and this stylish pair are perfect for when you're on your feet for a long time. They also have retail stores all over Hong Kong. These tan City Crossover Sandals from Everlane are also perfect for the Hong Kong heat thanks to the adjustable strap at the back.
Trust us - walking in Havaianas in the rain does not work, especially in Hong Kong rain. You will need shoes with grip for your foot AND the ground. Rubber Birkenstocks are a good option as they mold to your feet - how cute are these yellow ones? The Teva platform touch-strap sandals are also amazing and have many grips and straps to secure your foot in place; they are also slightly elevated so you can somewhat avoid those pesky puddles! These fun ultra-pink Crocs Mega Crush sandals will surely be able to tackle any adverse weather! Otherwise, for a pair that will take you to dinner in an amber rainstorm look no further than these rubber-soled Valentino Rockstud sandals. They also come in a flashy red!
We are always on the hunt for some cute sandals that will go with a summer dress. Rue Madame (online and retail stores across Hong Kong) has a great selection of French brands and these Petite Mendigote ones are perfect for summer. Cute retail store Excuse My French sells Les Tropeziennes sandals like these Hikano gold ones and are made of durable leather. We also have our eye on these studded leather sandals from Maje. Otherwise, designer slides are all the rage for summer 2023, and they also come with a hefty price tag. Brands to watch out for are Dior, Valentino, Bottega Veneta and of course the iconic Hermes ones. These Ancient Greek Sandals slides are a beautiful knock-off of the Hermes ones.
Les Tropeziennes makes a version of their flat sandals with a block heel and they are stunning. These gold ones go with everything and will last you for many summers to come and will never go out of style. Stuart Weitzman makes beautiful and stylish sandals that come in a block or stiletto heel that are timeless and super comfortable: these silver ones definitely caught our eye. These Saint Laurent lookalikes by Charles & Keith will definitely make you stand out at any event - minus the price tag. If you don't mind paying designer prices, Gianvito Rossi's Portofino sandals are iconic and very comfortable. They come in different colors and heel heights and we are lusting over these green beauties.
