Dyson Just Launched A Toothbrush With A Camera Inside It

Plus How It Works & The Price Tag

dyson toothbrush camera hong kong

Dyson has done floors, hair and headphones — and now it’s coming for your bathroom cabinet. Launching in Hong Kong this September, the Dyson CameraJet™ is the world’s first toothbrush with a built-in camera, and it’s designed to solve a problem most of us quietly ignore: flossing. The stats are grim reading. Nine in ten people don’t floss as often as they should, and most of us consistently miss the interdental gaps, precisely where plaque first forms and hardens. Six years, 661 engineers and 38 patents later, Dyson’s answer is a device that brushes, flosses and rinses in one go.

Check it out here

How It Works

  • Gap Optical Targeting™ — a 100k pixel macro lens camera scans 28 live images per second, and within 0.1 seconds of spotting a gap between your teeth, it fires a burst of pressurised mouthrinse to floss it clean
  • Conical jet — unlike sharp “needle-type” water flossers, Dyson’s wider, lower-pressure conical spray sweeps plaque away while staying gentle on gums and enamel (developed over five years with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Dentistry)
  • Variable sonic oscillation — the brush head oscillates up to 245 times a second and shifts angle to stop bristles stalling, removing up to 69% more plaque in hard-to-reach spots
  • Anti-gravity tank — a 12.5ml tank with a diaphragm pump delivers consistent jetting at any angle, so no sputtering when you tilt to reach the back teeth
  • 3-in-1 refill dock — stores, charges and refills the mouthwash in three seconds at the touch of a button
  • MyDyson™ app — live-view your own mouth like your dentist does, plus coverage mapping and technique feedback. Nothing is recorded or stored, on the device or in the cloud
  • Dual-bristle contoured brush head — firmer inner bristles lift surface stains, softer outer bristles clean the gumline; a sensitive version is also available

Dyson has also launched a matching non-foaming toothpaste (foam would block the camera’s view) and a low-foaming mouthrinse, both with fluoride, in Spearmint and Ginger Mint, plus a Sensitive Peppermint toothpaste.

How Does It Compare To Other Electric Toothbrushes?

At HK$4,290, the CameraJet is the priciest brush on the market — the flagship Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige and Oral-B iO Series 10 both carry an RRP of around HK$3,100 and are frequently discounted below that. What you’re paying for is the camera and the jet: no mainstream rival offers intraoral imaging or automated interdental flossing. Sonicare and Oral-B refine brushing; Dyson is trying to delete flossing as a separate step.

The Details

  • Price: HK$4,290 — includes two dual-bristle brush heads, the 3-in-1 refill dock and USB-C charging cable
  • Launch offer: A complimentary starter kit with Spearmint Toothpaste (75ml) and Mouthrinse (400ml), valued at HK$178
  • Colours: Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink
  • Where: Dyson Demo Stores, dyson.hk and selected retailers

Why Little Steps Loves It:

Our first reaction to the HK$4,290 price tag was a sharp intake of breath — that's around HK$1,000 to HK$2,000 more than the flagship Sonicare and Oral-B brushes. But there's a camera inside it, live-streaming your molars to your phone, and it does away with flossing altogether!

Who It's Perfect For:

Adults! It's not really a device we want the kids dropping in the sink.
