The International Montessori School (IMS) celebrates 25 years this year, marking a quarter-century of pioneering authentic bilingual Montessori education across Greater China.
With four campuses across Hong Kong Island, IMS offers a child-driven journey from pre-nursery through Middle School, combining English and Mandarin with hands-on learning, tactile Montessori materials and student-led inquiry.
Instead of a homework-heavy approach, children develop independence, curiosity and confidence at their own pace. With a strong Montessori community and proven pathways to leading international secondary schools, IMS offers a distinctive education from the early years onwards. The Scoop – What to Expect:
The International Montessori School (IMS) is the only accredited bilingual Montessori school in Hong Kong for children aged 1 to 14. IMS follows an authentic Montessori approach, with children learning through hands-on, self-paced and child-led experiences. English and Mandarin are used throughout the school day, with AMI-trained Montessori educators supporting each child’s individual development.
IMS Hong Kong offers an authentic, bilingual Montessori curriculum, with children learning in both English and Chinese throughout the school day. The curriculum covers areas including language, mathematics, science, history, geography, physical education, music and visual arts, with learning adapted to each child’s developmental stage. Students aged 12-14 can also follow the school’s Montessori Middle School programme, which combines rigorous academics with interdisciplinary, project-based learning and real-world experiences.
IMS has four Montessori campuses in Hong Kong: Stanley, Mid-Levels, South Horizons and Aldrich Bay. Stanley serves children aged 2-14, while Mid-Levels and Aldrich Bay serve children aged 2–6 and South Horizons serves children aged 1-6 years
IMS welcomes children from 1 to 14 years. Programmes include Montessori First Steps for ages 1-2 years, Foundation for ages 2-3 years, Casa dei Bambini for ages 3–6 years, Elementary for ages 6-12 years and Middle School for ages 12–14 years.
Your journey with IMS begins with an immersive campus tour, a hands-on Montessori trial, or an Open Day visit. Applications for children aged 1 to 14 are welcome year-round through the school’s online portal. Depending on your child’s age group, it may invite them for an interactive school visit and personalized assessment.
