Hot off the press! Black Sheep Restaurants is adding yet another venue to their ever-growing roster! Opening soon in IFC, Falcone is set to be an “energetic, colorful and flamboyant” neo-Neopolitan pizzeria with a simple and classic menu featuring pizzas and pastas that will be perfect for a family outing.
Naples is of course the birthplace of traditional Italian pizza – a neo-Neopolitan pizza breaks away from tradition by using novel techniques, flavors and ingredients that lie outside of the Italian region. And that is exactly what Black Sheep aim to do with their new concept- breaking away from tradition; there will be no reservations, so get there early to book your spot!
The menu is divided into four: antipasti, paste, pizze and dolci and features Italian classics. Start with a fresh insalata caprese and the hearty polpette – braised pork meatballs, tomato and parmesan. The delicious pacchianella is fried bread topped with tomato, for di latte and salami from Napoli and not to be missed. We suggest ordering one pasta at least – either the linguine vongole if you’re a seafood lover or the rigatoni alla genovese with braised beef. DO NOT skip the pizzas, which are probably the best in town: definitely try the spicy diavola for a kick or the tonno e cipolle (tuna, tomato, onions and fior di latte). If the kids are not too adventurous they can opt for the margherita or the delicious penne al pomodoro. Leave room for dessert and their homemade gelato or the nemesis al cioccolato, a decadent chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream.
