Want the kids to turn off YouTube and watch something more educational instead? Check out Kids Channel which has expanded its Montessori-inspired language learning materials and we’ve got the scoop right here!
The Kids Channel Montessori English Courses are catered for kids aged 2 years and up, who are keen to learn the English language. They’ll be guided through reading activities to build up their interest as well as confidence in their presentation skills. Through these activities, kids will also gain a greater understanding of their environment and the world that they are a part of.
Our little three-year-old reviewer went through the first six phonic sounds section of letters A and F as well as watched the song and story of Little Bunny Foo Foo. He also viewed The Unbelievable News: Bears as well as My Body and Senses.
“The website is very easy to use and you can keep track of your child’s progress as you move through and complete different modules,” commented his mom.
For the 15 and 24 Month packages, your child will receive:
26 sounds + 2 Unbelievable News + 2 Themes + 1 Song/Story + Quiz for the Phonics
2nd Month Onwards
15 Month Package (9 Videos/Month) - 4 Phonics (longer and focused on one area), 2 Unbelievable News, 2 Themes, 1 Story/Song + 4 Quizzes for the Phonics Videos.
This carries on for the next 14 months, by which time, the full Phonics Course is completed, and your child should be reading!!
For the 24 Month Package (7 Videos a month), the 1st month is as above and everything is the same except that you will receive 2 Phonics Videos a month. This longer course is more suited to younger learners to give them more time to develop their skills.
The 26 Basic Sounds with Quiz can be bought separately. The first to third stages will soon be available separately as well.
Use Of Puppets
Our little one loved the different characters, particularly the puppets Fred and Jake as well as when Ms Emily was singing. The Unbelievable News module was particularly a fave! He was extremely engaged and enjoyed being quizzed about what sounds a bear makes and different facts about bears.
Teaching Through Song And Dance
Mom felt that teaching through song and dance was effective to engage kids throughout the modules. As well, she appreciated the thought process behind teaching kids phonics through repetition and giving examples of different words. In other words, our little one was having fun!
Learning Through Humor
The 'My Body and Senses' theme was an instant hit! Our tot especially loved making funny comparisons like, 'What smells nicer - socks or flowers?' or 'Do ice cream and noodles taste good'? Mom felt that this is a great way to retain information and keep kids engaged throughout!
Kids aged 2 years and above.
There are regular Phonic 'tests' to appraise your child's understanding of the topics covered. Thereafter, you will receive an email with your child's results and feedback. There is also a Free Preview available for you to check out the courses.
