BALLROOM BEES: Ballroom Dance Classes For Kids

The brainchild of professional dancers, Katya Virshilas and Klaus Kongsdal, BallroomBees uses a play-based technique in teaching their dance classes. Katya is a dance celebrity - she appeared in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing (Dancing With The Stars) and performed in the theatre while her husband, Klaus judges major ballroom dancing competitions.

The classes in BallroomBees are multi-disciplinary and do not just focus on one dance. Their program is one-of-a-kind to nurture a child’s all-around development through dance. For example, a great aspect that's developed through ballroom dance is the social interaction between dance partners. Children learn all about partnership, etiquette, and teamwork that helps build self-confidence and mutual respect. 

Five different classes are grouped according to age. BabyBees, for kids aged 1.5 to 2.5 years, is geared toward familiarizing the children with the BallroomBees class structure. Next is the GrowingBees, 2.5 to 4 years, where the kids get their first taste of ballroom dancing through the introduction of etiquette and social skills with simple play-based exercises. HoneyBees, 4 to 6 years, and SuperBees, 6 to 8 years, are both the time the children learn the steps of ballroom dancing and improve their posture. And lastly, the MightyBees, 8 to 11 years, often holds seasonal performances.
