K11 ECOAST is Shekou’s huge seafront art mall, and it’s an easy Shenzhen day out for Hong Kong families. Take the 50-minute ferry, burn off energy at KP-FUN, visit the cat café and grab lunch with sea views.
The South Pavilion is where the kids’ stuff lives, with KP-FUN, MELAND and a basketball park, while the North Pavilion packs in most of the restaurants. Outside, a 60,000 sqm landscaped promenade and free playground keep little ones busy between stops. You’ll head home with tired kids.
The Scoop On K11 ECOAST
Little Steps Insider Tips:
It packs a theme-park-sized play day, decent shopping and good food into one building by the sea. Kids get proper play space, parents get coffee with harbor views, and nobody sits on a coach.
Hong Kong families with kids aged 3 to 12, grandparents who want an easy outing, and anyone after a simple first Shenzhen trip that’s hard to get wrong.
Mall entry is free. Buy ferry tickets ahead for weekends and holidays, bring passports, and check KP-FUN and MELAND opening hours and kids’ pricing before you go. Weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends.
Getting there by metro: Line 12 to Taiziwan Station, or Line 2 to Shekou Port Station.

Walking around K11 ECOAST is free, so your main costs are the ferry and play zones. Ferries from Sheung Wan to Shekou start from HK$68 one way. KP-FUN day passes cost CNY 298 (about HK$325), with 3-hour tickets at CNY 248, and MELAND charges separately.
Yes. Ferries from the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan reach Shekou in about 50 minutes, and SkyPier at HK Airport takes about 30. A direct cross-border coach also runs via Shenzhen Bay Port from 20+ Hong Kong pickup points at 9am and 2pm.
It depends on your passport. As of 2026, Australian, British, Canadian, Japanese and most EU passport holders get 30 days visa-free. US and Singapore passport holders can get a 5-day, Shenzhen-only visa on arrival at Shekou Port. Chinese Hong Kong residents use a Home Return Permit.
Use Alipay or WeChat Pay. Most Shenzhen shops and restaurants rarely take cash, and Octopus doesn't work across the border. Link either app to an international credit card before you leave Hong Kong, and set up a China eSIM or roaming pack so your data works.
Walk next door to Taizi Bay Coastal Park, which has a children's playground with slides and climbing walls on the waterfront. The Sea World Culture and Art Center and Shekou Value Factory, a converted factory turned creative hub, are also a short stroll away.
