Dwarika’s Sanctuary is a 40-suite wellness retreat on a forested hillside above Dhulikhel, about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu airport. Think sunrise yoga facing the Himalayas, Ayurvedic doctors on site and one Michelin Key for good measure.
Most guests start with a night at The Dwarika’s in Kathmandu, 7 minutes from the airport, then drive up the next morning. Trekkers come here last, swapping hiking boots for Ayurvedic massages, a hot tub facing the peaks and farm-to-table meals. Either way, you’ll fly home rested and calmer than you’ve been in months.

The Scoop On Dwarika’s Sanctuary
Little Steps Insider Tips:
A Kathmandu night at Dwarika’s Hotel plus a three-day retreat at the Sanctuary starts at about US$3,802 (about HK$29,600 / SG$4,900) solo, or US$4,750 (about HK$37,000 / SG$6,100) for two in peak season. Longer retreats are priced after a consultation.
Yes, though four nights is more relaxed. Cathay Pacific flies nonstop daily from Hong Kong to Kathmandu in about five and a half hours, and Singapore Airlines flies direct from Singapore in around five. The Sanctuary is an hour’s drive from the airport.
October and November give the clearest Himalayan views, right after the monsoon. March and April come a close second, with mild days and rhododendrons in bloom. Avoid June to August, when cloud often hides the peaks, and get up for sunrise.
Most Hong Kong and Singapore passport holders get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. It costs US$30 for 15 days or US$50 for 30 days, paid in cash, and children under 10 are free. Your passport needs six months’ validity.
Yes, children are welcome, though the retreats are designed for adults. The Sanctuary Suite, Himalayan Sanctuary Suite and Royal Suite each sleep two adults plus two children, and booking sites list under-twos as free in a cot. Ask about family-friendly activities when you enquire.
It’s rare to find a wellness stay where the practices actually come from the place you’re in. Yoga, Ayurveda and Buddhist meditation feel very different an hour from where they’ve been lived for centuries.
Couples craving a reset, mums planning a girls’ trip, solo parents who need a proper break, and anyone coming down from a Himalayan trek who wants serious recovery time.
Each retreat starts with a personal consultation, so email or call ahead rather than booking blind. October to November is peak season and fills early. Airport transfers cost extra and need 48 hours’ notice.
