Dalton Learning Lab

Newly Opened In Cyberport!

Let’s face it, with so much homework and assessments, for many students in Hong Kong life is all work and no play. That’s not healthy. At the Dalton Learning Lab, they make an effort to ensure that learning is fun, creative and most important of all enjoyable for the kiddos. The Lab was set up to close the gap between formal school education and real-world needs of the future (such as digital fluency) through a series of fascinating student-centered project-based learning classes.

We’ve got the scoop on this new learning lab in Cyberport just opened this October – read on to find out more!

  • Dalton Learning Lab is a collaboration between technology innovator Outblaze and two co-founders of Dalton School Hong Kong (DSHK), a nonprofit, child-centred dual language primary school integrating the heritage of Chinese culture with the progressive Dalton Plan. The aim of the Lab is to supplement student education with important 21st Century skills that are not widely taught or emphasized in Hong Kong. These skills will remain useful as A.I. and robotics increasingly come to dominate society in the near future. The Lab offers after-school educational courses in a variety of Science, Technology Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) for children aged 4-13, with an emphasis on fostering divergent thinking and developing useful, future-ready skills applicable to the real world. All courses at the Dalton Learning Lab are taught by actual experts in the subject under the guidance of professional educators.

  • Prepare your little ones for the technology-driven future and let them learn how to code! Coding has become a crucial skill and at Dalton Learning Lab kids will be doing some cool stuff such as designing, writing and debugging programs. They will also get to improve related (but often neglected) skills like communication, collaboration, creativity, storytelling, logical thinking and problem-solving.

  • Nowadays kiddos don't have to learn art the traditional way with pencils and papers! They can get creative however they want - and making art through utilizing digital tools is an awesome way for them to develop creativity and digital fluency at the same time. The Digital Art courses will teach students to appreciate art, build an art portfolio, and use software like Sketchbook Pro or PhotoShop CC with ease!

  • Robotics is one of the most important skills in the 21st century but it is overlooked by many schools. At the Dalton Learning Lab, they've got you covered with fun courses that teach principles of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as students design, build and program their own robots. In the course of fulfilling their natural curiosity about robotics they will also learn skills like collaboration, problem-solving, and divergent thinking. At the end of the course, they will be comfortable programming and controlling their robots or even inventing their own machine - how cool!

  • We all know how beneficial learning music can be, including better confidence, ability to concentrate, and academic performance. If classical music is not your kiddo's thing, Dalton Learning Lab's non-traditional music courses will definitely get the kiddos intrigued and hooked! They'll get to learn guitar, ukulele and music software together with recording equipment and mobile apps, creating and learning music in a totally fun and digitally literate manner.

  • Sign up for the Dalton Learning Lab open house on September 23, 2017! There will be free workshops for children on Robotics, Coding For Games, Digital Art, Digital Music & Guitar. Let your little one have fun exploring for the afternoon and discover something new! What's best - if you register for courses on site, you can get a 20% discount. Register here.
