At CUHKMC, those seeking a vaginal delivery, or natural birth, will be entitled to a private delivery room and one-to-one midwifery service, as well as a diverse range of pain management options – including hydrotherapy, birth balls, music, massage, and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) alongside Entonox (laughing gas) and epidural analgesia. A partner's company during labor is encouraged.
Caesarean sections are available for mothers who prefer a planned delivery, during which time the partner can be present at the operating theater to cut the umbilical cord.
However you choose to deliver your baby, early skin-to-skin contact and rooming-in are initiated to establish early bonding between the mother/father and the newborn.
A team of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants also stand ready to provide 24-hour support to mothers. The breastfeeding rate in CUHKMC is over 95%.
The admission process for the Labour & Delivery Centre at CUHKMC doesn't require a deposit or full payment upfront to secure a bed under your name. What's more, you have the flexibility to book your admission through obstetricians at CUHKMC or other specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who are their visiting doctors.
Antenatal laboratory reports (including GBS and other investigation reports) conducted at other private or public hospitals are accepted. No extra tests are necessarily bundled with your admission and booking.
