6 Stylish New Family Hotel For 2019 - Raffles Maldives Meradhoo

A new year sees the opening of a whole host of fabulous new family stays. Whether you want to head to the tropics, explore a cold climate, or have a gastro adventure, there’s something for all in 2019 as suggested Lightfoot Travel.

  • 6 Stylish New Family Hotel For 2019 - Raffles Maldives Meradhoo

    Raffles Maldives Meradhoo

Slated to open in February 2019, Raffles Maldives Meradhoo is located on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll and is the first Raffles property to hit the Maldives from the Raffles brand. The villas are set to feature big living spaces, lavish bathrooms and sunken terraces with glass floor paneling so you can check out the turtles, tropical fish and baby sharks living below. An array of dining options offer everything from Peruvian to Japanese dishes, and as with its sister properties, Raffles Maldives Meradhoo also boasts a Long Bar (Singapore Slings optional). Kids will love the endless activities, from kids mini-yoga, Zumba, dodgeball, and soccer to learning about marine biology, there’s something for all. Recommended are the kid's mocktail and pizza making classes, and Maldivian cooking classes!

  • Four Seasons Napa Valley, USA

Wine lovers rejoice! The new Four Seasons property in California is farmhouse-style set within the grounds of its vineyard in Calistoga, and it offers the opportunity for guests’ to blend their own wines. After all the fun you may require a lie-down and the place to do it will be at one of the two swimming pools or in the spa. The rooms and residences are stylish and cosy with indoor and outdoor spaces and terraces which are perfect for entertaining to the backdrop of sweeping views of the Napa Valley. There is an array of children's educational and recreational activities managed by the Kids For All Seasons programme. Alongside splashing around in the Family Pool, they can explore the organic garden, learn about geothermal resources, and go stargazing at night.

  • Datai Langkawi

At last! The Datai Langkawi will be re-opening for business in 2019 after a 12-month renovation programme. Making its Langkawi beachfront location, landscaped garden and lovely swimming pool even more alluring, the interiors have all been overhauled to offer impeccable fresh standards of hospitality. The selection of rooms is enormous, offering spacious elegance and all mod cons for families and larger multi-gen groups – some of the Rainforest Collection villas come with 10-meter infinity pools for plenty of splash-space. Child-friendly menus make dining with little ones easy, and the refurbed Beach Club and Beach Bar is a casual setting for get-togethers. The kiddos will love exploring the surrounding rainforest and joining in with nature activities such as scaling the 70-meter-long elevated walkway over mangroves and the 18-meter-high Canopy Walk.

  • Anantara Quy Nhon Villas

Surrounded by mountains and overlooking the Bay of Quy Nhon in south-central Vietnam, this new property boasts beachfront basking and tropical discoveries. With only 26 villas, the feel is personal and intimate with villas, many with private pools or beachfront locations a and a dedicated butler, in-villa wine ‘cellar’ and ‘delicatessen.’ A swimming pool and complimentary bicycles will keep all the family occupied, and while Dads hit the 35-hole golf course, Mums can escape to the jungle sanctuary-style spa. We like the Journey of Vietnam treatment that involves a coconut bath and a body and facial massage in a cliffside pavilion with sweeping panoramas. The kids’ club hosts a schedule of activities and takes place at the sister resort, AVANI. There’s also a babysitting service available. Plans are also in place for a newly branded train carriage will run between Danang to Anantara Quy Nhon Villas which will add extra excitement and authentic touch to the journey.

  • Arctic Bath, Sweden

Next year the team behind the famed Treehouse Hotel will be back with another show-stopping hotel in Sweden – the floating Arctic Bath. Possibly your most refreshing getaway yet, the donut-shaped retreat features floating hotel rooms, four saunas and a plunge pool at its center. This will be the spot from where to experience the northern lights or starry skies. The boutique hotel is taken inspiration from the logjams that float down the Lule River, and it is sure to become a star of Instagram when it launches in 2019. While Arctic Bath wouldn’t be suitable for younger children, teens will love the Instagram-friendly design (it looks a bit like a giant bird’s nest) and the spa treatments, plus getting photos of them entering the cold baths could be priceless!

  • Nannai Noronha, Brazil

And if you want to escape without the kids… The small island of Pernambuco off the northern coast of Brazil is set to be home of the latest boutique property from the team behind the Nannai Resort & Spa in Mura Alto. Nestled in a private bay, it’s slated to feature a range of bungalows and plush apartments, each with a private plunge pool, outdoor shower, and panoramas of the Atlantic Forest. The Nannai Resort & Spa was named the most romantic in the world, but we think the spa at Nannai Noronha will be offering some seriously stylish competition.
