A trip to Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay, an ocean paradise featuring striking karsts and turquoise seas, once required an overnight trip, but now a new highway means visitors to northern Vietnam will be able to take a day trip to the natural attraction and enjoy special day-cruises. The new USD572 million highway, which opened August 2018, connects Hanoi to Halong Bay, cutting the four-hour drive time in half.
