Bring on the bloggers! In this new series, Little Steps is connecting with Asia’s leading mom and dad bloggers to find out more about their families, their blogs, and of course, their favorite outings, restaurants, and more! First up, we meet Victor and Virginia, founders of Our Parenting World, an award-winning parenting blog in Singapore!
When we had our first child in 2005, we thought of sharing our parenting journey with friends and other parents by writing our journey in the blog. As a medical doctor, I love sharing tips on topics like children's health in the blog and this attracts many readers who are parents and interested in health related topics like nutrition, vaccination etc. My wife who is a tertiary educator contributes articles on children stimulation and educational matters to share with our readers. We also enjoy getting to know and making new friends through our blog.
Our readers come from all walks of life. Many of them are parents with young children like us, some of them are grandparents who have grandchildren and also our single friends who have nieces and nephews like reading our experiences to help them care for the children.
Like many Singaporeans families, one of our favorite pastimes is eating. One of our favorite blogs is written by a fellow doctor and a prominent food blogger in Singapore at IEATISHOOTIPOST. We like the blog because as a family, we managed to try out a lot of delicious food all over Singapore.
Our kids enjoy outdoor activities. We travel all around Singapore looking for new playgrounds for them. These include the beaches at East Coast and West Coast Park, at Sentosa Island and also many of the beautiful reservoirs around the island like MacRitchie and Peirce Reservoirs.
That is a hard one, because there are so many kids friendly restaurants in Singapore. Among them we like Hard Rock Café which offers one of the best children’s menu and they also provide crayons and papers for the children to draw while waiting for the food.
Some of the “hidden” finds in Singapore that we enjoy going include Kent Ridge Park which has a beautiful view of the southern seas and having tea at the older part of the Tiong Bahru district where our children can learn and admire the living architecture of Singapore many decades ago.
“Let your children enjoy their childhood, because this could help them grow up happy and healthy”
“Parenthood is a journey, not a destination. You should learn to enjoy the journey and make time for your family.”
~Virginia and Victor, founders of Our Parenting World
