The Scoop – What to Expect:
CIS uses an IB-inspired, inquiry-based approach that encourages young children to ask questions, explore ideas, experiment and make connections. Through hands-on experiences and purposeful play, children develop curiosity, independence, creativity and problem-solving skills.
CIS has a 2,400 sqm outdoor learning environment where children can explore the natural world and learn through active, hands-on experiences. Activities involving art, movement, sand, water and nature provide opportunities to develop physical confidence, creativity, language and early mathematical thinking.
Children encounter early mathematical and scientific concepts through practical activities rather than relying solely on formal instruction. Scooping, pouring, filling and measuring introduce capacity and cause and effect, while weaving helps children recognise patterns, shapes, repetition and symmetry.
CIS incorporates storytelling and opportunities to engage with different languages into early learning. Trilingual storytelling helps children develop vocabulary, listening and comprehension skills while encouraging imagination and a love of stories. Everyday discussions, questions and collaborative exploration also give children opportunities to express ideas and communicate with others.
At Canadian International School (CIS), early learning begins with curiosity, exploration and the freedom to discover. Its IB-inspired, inquiry-based approach encourages children aged two to six to ask questions, investigate their surroundings and develop ideas through active participation. The 2,400sqm outdoor learning environment gives young learners space to connect with nature while building skills that support their wider development.
What Will Children Discover? From creative crafts and physical challenges to sensory play and storytelling, each activity offers opportunities to learn through experience.
Rather than simply receiving information, children are encouraged to experiment, make connections and develop their own understanding. The Magical Garden Party offers families a chance to see this philosophy in action through activities designed to nurture confidence, creativity and independent thinking.
The Magical Garden Party brings learning to life through five character-led experiences, each introducing different skills through imaginative, hands-on activities. Children can create nature-inspired accessories with Betty Butterfly, wriggle through Charlie Caterpillar’s cocoon, investigate materials with Aunty Ant, weave patterns with Sally Spider and enjoy trilingual storytelling with Marty Moth.
The Scoop on the Magical Garden Party:
At Canadian International School, the early years provide opportunities to develop the skills and attitudes that support future learning. Its IB-inspired, inquiry-based approach encourages children to explore questions, make predictions, solve problems and build understanding through meaningful experiences. The Magical Garden Party brings this philosophy into focus through nature, movement, creativity and language.
A 2,400sqm outdoor learning environment gives children room to investigate the natural world, explore materials and develop their understanding through first-hand experiences.
From noticing patterns in woven webs to exploring capacity in the Mud & Sand Kitchen, children encounter concepts that underpin later learning. Creative activities encourage self-expression, while physical challenges help develop coordination and resilience. Stories in different languages offer further opportunities to build communication skills and broaden children's experiences.
