Have you got your shopping sorted for the Lunar New Year? Malls all over the Klang Valley are filled with amazing festive décor, and are putting on a number of cultural performances such as Lion Dances, kids’ workshops for the little ones, CNY-themed contests, and plenty of activities to entice shoppers. We’ve scoured the city to find the top malls to get in the mood for CNY with free entertainment and activities throughout the month of February.

  • 1 UTAMA SHOPPING CENTER: Until February 20

    Bloom in spring is the theme at 1 Utama as a riot of predominantly crimson and pink hues take over the Oval and Center Court with retailers setting up pop-up kiosks to offer their wares for CNY. The festive mood comes alive with a number of Lion Dance performances, drums, GuZheng and Chinese Orchestra till February 20.

    Atria has lined up a list of exciting performances such as the Chinese New Year Folk Dance, Spectacular Acrobatic Show, Acrobatic Lion Dance, LED Lion Dance, God of Prosperity appearance and CNY Bazaar that'll keep the crowds streaming in this CNY. For the young ones, sign them up for the children workshops, Calligraphy Contest and Kids Lion Dance Competition.

  • AVENUE K: Until February 25

    Avenue K sports a floral theme this year with its Bloom of Grandeur from Jan 19 to Feb 25. Look out for activities including CNY Medley by Color of Voices, Fusion Instrumental Musical, Chinese Calligraphy, Dragon Beard Candy, Paper Art Cutting, Kids Workshop, Rolling in the Wealth Ceremony, Acrobatic Lion Dance, and Money Showering.

  • BANGSAR SHOPPING CENTER (BSC): Until February 15

    Shop for accessories and all your CNY needs at the BSC’s festive bazaar, and catch performances including 8 Majestic Drum. Diabolo, Acrobatic performances, Lion Dance, Dragon Beard Candy demo, an appearance by the God of Prosperity and more.

  • eCURVE: Until February 18

    eCurve, located right next to The Curve is hosting a Sizzling CNY Variety Show every weekend at 3pm and 6pm. Pop by and be entertained by street performances such as wushu, taichi, acrobatics and the God of Prosperity, along with Acrobatic Lion Dance.

  • CNY Mall Activities In KL - IOI City Mall

    IOI CITY MALL: Until February 19

    The Splendors of Spring is out in full force at IOI City Mall with endless activities and cultural performances to feast your eyes on this CNY. Look out for performances such as Acrobatic Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Diabolo, 24 Season Drum, 5 Emperor Drum, Face Mask Changing, 8 Majestic Drum, LED Drum, LED Dragon and Yee Sang Making Demo.

  • IOI MALL PUCHONG: Until February 25

    Shoppers can relive the picturesque scene of old Hong Kong at IOI Mall as its “Once Upon A Time” theme transforms the entire North Court into an old Hong Kong street reminiscent of the city’s yesteryear back in 1960’s.

    The picturesque setting will certainly give you lots of Insta-worthy snapshots. The exciting line-up of activities includes In The Mood of Jazz Melodies, Nostalgia Snacks Giveaway, Chinese Calligraphy Couplets Giveaway, CNY Flower Making Workshop and Lion Dance Extravaganza from the award-winning and world-famous Lion Dance troupe, Kun Seng Keng Kuala Lumpur on February 24 at 1pm.

  • IPC SHOPPING CENTER: Until February 25

    Not one to shy away from a CNY theme depicting the canine creatures, the newly refurbished IPC Shopping Center offers a line-up of fun crafts for kids and performances. There will be Lion Dance, Year of the Dog Mascot, Traditional Chinese Dance, and workshops on Paper Puppies, Dragon Puppets, Chinese Lanterns, Spring Blossoms, Cherry Blossoms Lanterns, Wooden Dog Rattle and more.

  • MID VALLEY MEGAMALL: Until February 25

    Find a garden of blossoms at Mid Valley Megamall as the mall is transformed into a floral sanctuary with thousands of pretty flowers and lattice wooden frames. Pop-up kiosks offering all sorts of CNY goodies including decorative items, apparel and festive delicacies will make shopping here a one-stop center. While you’re there, don’t miss the Lion Dance and cultural performances including the Oriental Odyssey and Oriental Chamber Orchestra. A minimum spend of RM50 will also entitle a parent and child pair to sign up for the many workshops including Chinese Calligraphy, Candy Painting, Paper Cutting and more.

  • PARADIGM MALL: Until February 19

    The Golden Fortune Lunar New Year at Paradigm Mall promises plenty of exciting activities for the whole family.   • PAVILION KL: Until March 2

    Pavilion KL is transformed into a ‘Dream Garden of Prosperity’ with colorful gardens and 8,888 Prosperity Petals hanging from the ceiling this CNY. From LED Lion Dance to Children Lion Dance, Magician God of Prosperity and dance performances, a trip to this mall is a must just to check out the decorations as they never fail to impress every festive season.

  • PUBLIKA: Until February 23

    Head over to Publika to admire the art installation by Biji-Biji Initiative in honor of the Year of the Dog. The Boulevard is a must-visit on Fridays to Sundays for free workshops on Oriental Paper Cutting, Calligraphy, Dough Doll, Knotting Art, and Beard Candy. Buskers will be performing as well, and at the same time pick up some artisan handmade products including CNY cookies, food and ornaments at the CNY Bazaar.

  • SETIA CITY MALL: Until February 18

    With décor inspired by the Imperial Dynasty, get in the mood for CNY with the variety of wares available at the bazaar including hampers, clothing, tidbits and more. Spend RM10 or more in a single receipt for a chance to dress up as an Emperor or Empress and get your photo taken at the ‘Costume & Photo Booth’ stand.     Sunway Putra Mall intends to keep traditions alive with its traditional Chinese décor and multiple attractions such as the Tree of Blessings, Flowers Market, Spring Bazaar, Mandarin Orange Eating Competition and Scented Mandarin Orange Garden.     Taking a leaf from the water town of Zhouzhuang in China, known for its canals, Sunway Pyramid has transformed its space into a traditional Chinese village filled with cherry blossoms and willows from 19 Jan till 18 Feb 2018. Look out for the Oriental arch towers flanked by two Imperial guardian lions (aka foo lions), and there’s even a river flowing in between. Browse the Oriental attires on sale, have your name written in Chinese calligraphy or sample some dragon beard candy while you’re there.

  • SURIA KLCC: Until February 18

    Celebrating the homecoming of traditions and happiness, a traditional tea house sits in the center of the concourse while colorful lanterns, chicken coops and CNY decor transform the space into an olden day Chinese village while a gigantic Chinese lantern is on display until February 22. Look out for interesting activities such as Chinese Acrobatic Performance, Chinese Musical, God of Prosperity and Lion Dance.

  • THE CURVE: Until February 18

    The Lady Of Spring Dance Musical takes center stage at The Curve this CNY. Catch this unique 30 minutes act featuring dancers in enchanting costumes along with Lion Dance and the God of Prosperity making an appearance. While you’re there, take a selfie at the ethereal floral garden complete with Chinese Pavilions, a mini waterfall, and pretty blooms all around.

  • THE GARDENS MALL: Until Feb 18

    The Gardens Mall welcomes the Year of the Dog with décor that depicts Shanghai in the spring of 1930; where demure ladies strolled the streets under paper parasols and shopped for silks and perfumes. Catch the performances line up including Acrobatic Lion Dance, Chinese Contemporary Dance, Voices of Spring, Oriental Melodies and Portrait Illustrations.

    Tropicana City Mall wants you to have an imperial reunion with their gorgeous set-up smack in the center of the mall. There are a number of events and performances to look forward to here including the Spring Bazaar, the Chinese Diabolo performance, Lion and Dragon Dance, God of Prosperity, fresh tuna cutting presentation, Chinese Emperor Costume Family Photo Shoot, CNY Chinese Calligraphy and Brush Painting, Spring Fairies dance performance, 5 Prosperity Chinese Season Drums and Chinese Instruments.
