Chinese New Year Celebrations & Decorations At Lee Tung Avenue

Celebrate Chinese New Year with the whole family at Lee Tung Avenue in Hong Kong! From 1st February to 10th March 2024, Lee Tung Avenue is hosting the “Lanterns-Lit Year of the Dragon” event, offering a magical experience for everyone. Enjoy the festive ambiance and stroll along the 200-meter tree-lined pedestrian walkway adorned with hundreds of vibrant red and goldfish-shaped lanterns as well as the magnificent eight-meter-long golden dragon installation, a beloved symbol of Chinese culture. And everyone is invited to decorate the dragon’s body with the guidance of the on-site art instructors!

Highlights from Lee Tung Avenue’s Chinese New Year Celebrations & Decorations 2024:

• Chinese New Year Parade on February 12, 2024: attendees can witness the inspiring performances of two world-class dancing troupes. “Golden Dream” from Spain, a group that has received numerous awards, and “Universe of Lights,” an exceptional stilt-walking team from Germany, will showcase their extraordinary talents under the mesmerizing “sea of lanterns.” The Jean M. Wong School of Ballet and SDM Jazz & Ballet Academie from Hong Kong will also showcase a delightful fusion of ballet and jazz performances infused with Chinese dance elements. This event happening from 5:30pm-7:00 pm is free and no registration is required.
• Lion Dance Experience Workshops on February 10 & 11, 2024: Lee Tung Avenue will host lion dance experience workshops, led by professional instructors, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the rich traditions of Chinese culture. There are several 15-minute workshops taking place: February 10 at 1:25pm-2:00pm and 2:40-pm-3:15pm and February 11 at 5:25pm-6:00pm and 6:40pm-7:15pm. Lee Tung Avenue members can use 200 e-points to reserve a spot beforehand, while non-members can sign up on the spot after spending HK$200 and following Lee Tung Avenue on social media. Limited availability, first come, first served.
• Lion Dance Performances on February 10 & 11, 2024: catch a mesmerizing lion dance performance at the Central Piazza on February 10 at 1:00pm-1:15pm and 2:15-pm-2:30pm and February 11 at 5:00pm-5:15pm and 6:15pm-6:30pm.
• Dragon & Lion Dance Spectacular on February 20, 2024: featuring breathtaking performances including high pole jumping and a procession with a giant golden dragon! The Dragon & Lion Dance Spectacular will take place at the Central Piazza from 2:00pm-2:30pm.
