‘Tis the season to say cheese, and in Hong Kong that means booking before the good dates disappear. Families here juggle Christmas cards, Lunar New Year portraits and relatives who want a proper photo, not a blurry group selfie on the Peak. This 2026 refresh of our holiday photography guide keeps every photographer from the original list, in the same order, and strips out offers that expired years ago. Pair it with our Hong Kong holiday gift guide once the prints are in.
When should you book? Go early, they start filling up from August/September on!

When should I book a Christmas photo session in Hong Kong?
Book from August or September. Holiday slots fill early, and popular mini sessions run only in October, November and early December. Nestology Studio’s Holiday Minis run from November through 6 December, and Ian Taylor Photography’s minis are mainly October and November. If you want cards posted overseas before Christmas, aim to shoot by early November so editing and printing still have time.
How much does a holiday family photo shoot cost in Hong Kong?
A short holiday mini is often the better-value option. Nestology Studio charges HK$5,500 for a 30-minute session with 15 edited images, and the full gallery is an extra HK$900. Longer studio or outdoor sessions, albums and wall art cost more. Ask what is included: digital files, prints, cards, extra people and pets are often add-ons.
Where can we take Christmas card photos in Hong Kong?
You can shoot in a studio or outdoors. Venture Studios has rooms in Tsim Sha Tsui (Harbour City) and Central (Lyndhurst Terrace). Nestology offers South Bay Beach, Victoria Peak Garden, Repulse Bay Arcade or your home. Rosa and Daniel work from a Central studio, and Ian Taylor covers locations on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. See more on the family photographers guide.
What should we wear for a Christmas family photo in Hong Kong?
Match a simple palette rather than identical outfits. Soft reds, greens, cream, navy and knit textures photograph well, and avoid large logos. For outdoor sessions in November, bring a light layer you can take off. Little Stories – The Moment by Amy can style a more minimal look and work with makeup and set teams if you want a polished card.
Can we include pets or turn the photos into cards?
Yes, if you book it in. Ian Taylor’s minis can include pets, and most studios will add a dog or cat if you ask first. Venture Studios also makes frames and art pieces, and Rosa and Daniel are known for wall portraits and heirloom albums. For prints and cards, check the photo gifts and printers guide.
Family photos don’t have to mean forced smiles and stiff poses. Founded by Hong Kong mama and photographer Samantha Fong, Nestology Studio captures the real, beautiful moments that make family life so special. With over a decade of experience, Sam creates a relaxed space where even camera-shy kids can feel comfortable and families can simply be themselves.
This holiday season, step into the frame with 30-minute Holiday Minis, running from November through December 6. Choose from four beautiful Hong Kong settings: sunny South Bay Beach, scenic Victoria Peak Garden, charming Repulse Bay Arcade or the cosy comfort of home. Each session includes 15 beautifully edited images, with the option to purchase the full gallery for HK$900. Sessions are HK$5,500, with limited slots available.

Venture Studios is the straightforward studio booking option when you want a Christmas card without worrying about the weather. Photographers work from Central, on the 20th Floor at 46 Lyndhurst Terrace, and from Tsim Sha Tsui, Suite 608-9, World Commerce Centre, Harbour City, so families in both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon can reach a set. Sessions cover family, maternity, newborn, pets and couples, and the frames are handmade in the UK if the card is only half the order. Ask which festive backdrop is up this season before you promise the children a tree. It is the easiest option if grandparents are flying in and you need a fixed address.

Little Stories is the fine-art pick for a Christmas card that is not red and green for the sake of it. Amy’s studio shoots modern, minimal family stories, with styling support and the option to bring in makeup and set dressing if you want the session dressed rather than found. The team has photographed families since 2016, and their published base is the HKU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub, 2/F Pao Siu Loong Building, Pok Fu Lam. There is no public 2026 card price, so ask what a short holiday edit includes. It suits parents who want one chic frame for relatives overseas.

Daniel Tam Photography offers flexible booking when the Christmas card has to share a budget with everything else in December. Daniel shoots as a dad, trained under Alain Yip, and will shape a family session around what you actually need, indoors or outdoors. It works if you want a proper portrait without a theme-park set.

Rosa and Daniel Photography is the legacy studio on this list. Rosa opened in 1999, Daniel joined later, and the Central room still specialises in children, family, and generational portraits, plus maternity. They sell retouched files, but the reason families stay is the fine-art wall portraits and albums meant to be passed on. Ask for a Christmas sitting rather than assuming a mini menu. It is the right call if the card is a bonus and the portrait is the point.

Kim Bacon Photography covers the actual Christmas brief: a fun family frame, a portrait for relatives, or a lights shot if that is the card you want. She is a natural-light photographer and will shoot at home or out in Hong Kong, from beaches and parks to backstreets. A published family session has been listed at HK$4,900 for about two hours and 40 edited high-res images, in colour and black and white where it suits. Confirm that figure before you pay a deposit. She is happy to steer the styling if you do not want to art-direct it. Print options after the edit are in our photo gifts guide.

Kindred Studio is the polished family sitting for parents who want elegant rather than silly. The studio, by Jada Poon’s team, describes its work as elegant and heartwarming, and past clients talk about calm handling of toddlers, siblings and even a puppy. It is based around Central and has run collaboration sets, including floral and themed minis, so ask whether a Christmas or year-end setup is on the books for 2026 rather than assuming one. Families on the site describe it becoming an annual tradition, which is exactly the card job. Book through the site if you want guidance instead of a found location.
