Fed up with wandering round museums and seeing ‘DO NOT TOUCH’ signs stuck to glass cases? Well look no further than MEMA, where little hands are encouraged to explore and interact with what’s on show. The glass and steel building houses tons of interactive displays and an exhibition dedicated to the history of the maritime Silk Route.

Visitors are greeted by a mock up of the hull of Bao Chuan, the treasure ship of legendary Chinese seafarer Admiral Zheng. The exhibition wraps round and underneath this, with plenty of space for little ones to explore, and a café upstairs to feed and water them.
