Family-Friendly Guide To All The Highlights From Art Central 2024

Mark your calendar for Art Central 2024! You are invited to an explosion of art on the harbor! Culture vultures meet art enthusiasts in Hong Kong’s amazing art fair for all ages.  This year is unique as the focus is mainly on local Hong Kong artists and galleries. Art Central 2024 highlights:

• Neo: Art Central 2024 introduces a fresh feature, Neo, which serves as a launchpad for first-year participating galleries to showcase avant-garde or yet-to-be-discovered talents in an intimate yet prominent exhibition space. This inaugural segment has been curated by Enoch Cheng, the fair’s advisory curator, and will spotlight ten galleries along with fourteen artists making their mark at the sector’s premiere. • Yi Tai Sculpture & Exhibition Project: One of the highlights of Art Central is its larger-than-life installations. Stay tuned for this year’s program!
• Video Art: In 2023 visitors were dazzled by Yang Yongliang’s video artwork displayed on a massive LED screen. Check back here for updates on this year’s artists!
• Talks: Artists and curators from all around the globe will be participating in thought-provoking talks.
• Performances: Artists will be taking part in ground-breaking performances, more here.
• Night Central: Have an artsy date night on March 28 at Night Central with special opening hours (5:00pm-9:00pm).
• Kids? Children 4 years and under may enter for free with a ticket-holding adult. Children’s tickets are available for children aged 5–15 and must be accompanied by an adult.
• Eat Central: For the first time, Art Central collaborates with Black Sheep Restaurants and Soho House Hong Kong to bring you ‘Eat Central’, an outdoor terrace with five unique concepts, including Vietnamese flavors from Chôm Chôm, Lebanese cuisine from Maison Libanaise, American pastries from Butter Cookies, gelato from Messina, and a sneak peek of the new Jean-Pierre. Meanwhile, Soho House Hong Kong will curate an exclusive bar area, featuring a mural by Japanese artist TAXA, which captures the local art essence and offers crafted drinks in a cozy setting. This partnership underscores a fusion of art and gastronomy, enhancing the social and creative fabric of the event.

Public Tours: Ticket holders at Art Central can partake in complimentary small group tours. These tours are conducted by knowledgeable docents and experts from the industry and occur twice a day. Gather at the designated meeting point within the Fair at the scheduled times for the start of the tours.

Adult Tours

28 – 31 March (Thursday to Sunday)

• English Tour: 3 pm & 6 pm
• Cantonese Tour: 3 pm & 6 pm

Kids Tours

Kids Tours cater to children aged 5 – 10 and those older than 10, with content and duration customized for each age group. Tours are offered in both English and Cantonese. Each child must be accompanied by an adult, with a limit of 5 children and 5 accompanying adults per tour.
