Oh the joys of teething! Somewhere between the ages of two months to 12 months with most starting around seven months, your little monkey will get their first tooth. Teething is not fun for anyone, but there are ways to ease the discomfort. Little Steps gives you the rundown on teething – from what to expect to teething remedies.
What to expect?
*The first tooth to appear is typically one of the bottom two in the center. This is followed by the teeth next to the front teeth, moving outwards toward the molars.
What are the symptoms?
* Drooling – There will be a lot of drool! Some babies cough a lot due to the excessive drool.
* Rash – Little ones can get quite chapped on their face from all the drooling, so a bib is recommended. Be sure to wipe regularly.
* Biting – Teething toys were made for this period in baby’s life. Stock up on chewable toys and teething rings.
* Crying – Teething is not comfortable, so there will be tears! Talk to your doc about using a bit of Panadol to ease the pain.
* Sleep Cycle Off – Teething will throw your baby off their normal sleeping patterns. Teething remedies:
* Buy teething toys and rings. Babies love the ones you freeze as this feels oh-so-good on irritated gums.
* Cold icy drinks. Chilled food and frozen fruit – peaches, frozen bananas, yogurt.
* Panadol
* Teething gel – found at Guardian, Watsons, iHerb (delivers to Singapore)
