Team Little Steps (Shea Stanley and Stephanie Huxley) recently checked into Singapore’s first Garden-in-a-Hotel and found a great family base in the middle of Marina Bay. The lobby atrium holds more than 2,400 plants, and songbirds live in the corners of the hotel (yes, really).
The stay comes with gnome-themed kids rooms, a dedicated playroom, a pool that lights up at night and a Collection Club Lounge for guests in those rooms. It’s an easy recommendation for families who want a fun stay without giving up comfort.
Quick Verdict
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay is a strong pick for a short Singapore staycation with kids. The gnome rooms and the Gnomey Hollows playroom keep children busy, while the garden atrium, skyline pool and Marina Bay location keep parents happy.
The main draw for families is a pair of gnome-themed rooms. The Gnome’s Treehouse has leafy motifs, ladders, cozy nooks and twinkling details made for climbing and play, while the Gnome’s Burrow feels like an underground hideaway with earthy tones, mushroom accents, tree-log bunk beds and an in-room slide. Both connect to a parent king-bed room (and can link further for multi-generational stays) and come with gnome toys, board games and a Nintendo Switch. Kids head straight in, which gives parents a few minutes to unpack and settle.
Packages often include welcome drinks, a plush toy, themed amenities, breakfast and complimentary activities such as a treasure hunt or a terrarium milk pudding workshop. Check the hotel’s Welcome to Gnome’s Land page for current inclusions and dates.
Gnomey Hollows is a forest-themed playroom on Level 4 that carries the gnome theme beyond the rooms. It is open daily (typically 9 am to 9 pm) for ages up to 12. Expect a vegetable-harvesting corner, a mushroom house and wagon, a cocoon swing, a soft green carpet, a reading nook and forest murals.
It is a cool indoor break between pool sessions or after a day out. Supervision is required.
The outdoor Skyline pool is on Level 5, with city views and plenty of loungers. At dusk, roughly 1,380 fiber-optic lights make the water shimmer like a starry sky, so it is worth planning an evening swim or a drink at the adjacent Skyline Bar. Got toddlers? There’s a shallower area suitable for younger children.
Guests in Collection Club rooms get access to the lounge by the pool. Because alcohol is served, the hotel does not encourage children under 12 in the lounge. Families with younger kids can have breakfast at Peppermint and light snacks and evening drinks at Portman’s Bar on weekdays instead.
The lobby atrium is a living garden with songbirds, a tall green wall, timber pavilions and a skybridge.
Dining ranges from the farm-to-table, halal-certified buffet at Peppermint (the breakfast is strong) to Chinese cuisine at Peach Blossoms, plus the hotel’s other restaurants and bars. Produce from the Urban Farm shows up in some dishes and in the turndown ritual.
The location is easy for families. The hotel has direct access to Marina Square, and the Esplanade and the waterfront are a short walk away.
Prices and packages (including Welcome to Gnome’s Land) are subject to change; confirm current availability and inclusions directly with the hotel.
