Thrill-seekers, Glamping in the Wild – Crocodile Lodge is the adventure escapade that will satisfy your need for adrenaline. This 2D1N glamping experience includes two days of access to Rainforest Wild Asia, an adventure-based wildlife park with rock climbing, a ravine swing through the forest, a 20-meter canopy jump, and more, plus a comfortable stay in an air-conditioned tent with a patio that overlooks a crocodile enclosure.
We took our hyperactive 5-year-old and 8-year-old on their first-ever adventurous glamping experience at the Crocodile Lodge, and it was an experience like no other! Read on to find out how it went, what we loved, and our top tips for your next stay.
When we first heard about the Crocodile Lodge, we were stoked that it was an all-inclusive experience. This means that you can say goodbye to the stress of planning the nitty-gritty details of where to stay, what to eat, and what to do, which is a lifesaver when you have little ones in tow!
This 2D1N package includes:
Do note that you have the option to add an additional night for extra family fun!
Price of Glamping in the Wild - Crocodile Lodge:
When I told the kids that we were going to sleep in a tent, they did not expect there to be a bunk bed! We were pleasantly surprised that we had enough space to move around in the 4m x 5m tent, which can sleep up to four people on one queen bed and one bunk bed. There is also free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning (yay!), and a 230V power outlet.
We were initially nervous about using a communal bathroom, but it turned out to be modern, clean, and spacious. We loved that there's a family bathroom, so no one gets separated or left behind. There's a water dispenser on-site, so we were able to stay hydrated throughout.
With kids who are constantly bouncing off the walls, we often hear, "I'm hungry!" almost every hour. Thankfully, the Crocodile Lodge takes good care of us with delicious meals at Ranger's Retreat Restaurant.
The Ranger's Retreat Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with authentic South African dishes. Upon check-in, you will get to choose your set meal, which includes:
We enjoyed the Classic Mushroom Soup and Impossible Bobotie, while the kids especially loved the Fish & Chips. The portion was huge, which kept their tummies full for the rest of the night.
If the kids tend to get hungry right before bed, we'd recommend bringing extra snacks to enjoy in your tent, as you will not be able to leave the glamping site after dinner.
Day 1:
Day 2:
We love that the Crocodile Lodge gave us access to all nine Adventure+ activities, which makes this a thrilling experience for adventure-seekers. However, most of these experiences are geared towards older kids who meet the minimum height and weight requirements.
With that said, my 8- and 5-year-olds especially enjoyed the Canopy Glider, which took us above the treetops and gave us gorgeous panoramic views of the park. We recommend taking this ride first, so you get an idea of what to expect at Rainforest Wild Asia EAST.
Another highlight was the Ranger Expedition, a guided walk through Lemur Land with Mandai's friendly and knowledgeable team, and our tour guide was very patient with the never-ending list of questions that my kids had! We learned so much about the plants and wildlife that we spotted along the way. Did you know that female lemurs outrank male lemurs? Talk about girl power!
Whether you're booking this glamping experience with younger kids or as an adventurous escapade with your partner, these tips will help you make the most of your experience!
