Can You Cycle Or Bike At Gardens By The Bay In Singapore? Family Insider Tips

Biking Around Marina Bay With Kids

Dreaming of a breezy family bike ride with the iconic Supertrees as your backdrop? While you can’t pedal freely inside the main garden areas, Gardens by the Bay offers some wonderful perimeter cycling spots that let families enjoy the fresh air, skyline views, and that signature Singapore garden vibe on two wheels.

Little Steps Insider Tip: We locked our bikes at the dedicated stands near the Bay South Garden entrance, then explored the magical Supertrees, Flower Dome, and Cloud Forest on foot with the kids. Wide, stroller-friendly paths, plenty of shaded rest spots, and cool indoor conservatories made it a perfect mix of active fun and relaxed family time — no sweaty helmets needed inside!

The Rules on Cycling Inside Gardens by the Bay

  • No, you cannot cycle freely inside most areas of Gardens by the Bay. Bicycles, tricycles, roller skates, skateboards, and scooters are prohibited throughout the Gardens for safety and crowd control.
  • If you cycle to Bay South Garden, you can secure your bike at the available bike stands and enjoy the gardens on foot. Wheelchairs (including motorised) and seated mobility scooters are allowed.

What Little Steps Did Instead…You Can Cycle Around Gardens By The Bay!

We combined a short cycle along the allowed perimeter paths with a full family day inside the Gardens. After locking up the bikes, we strolled (or strollered!) through the outdoor areas, visited the Far East Organization Children’s Garden (perfect for ages 12 and under), and cooled off in the air-conditioned Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. The kids loved the playgrounds and elevated OCBC Skyway views — it felt like the best of both worlds: active start + magical garden adventure.

Cycling is permitted in these family-friendly perimeter areas (flat, scenic, and great for little riders on balance bikes, kids’ bikes, or family tandems):

  • Waterfront Promenade and Scented Walk in Bay South Garden Enjoy gentle sea breezes, beautiful waterfront views, and the fragrant Scented Walk. It’s a lovely short stretch perfect for photos with the Supertrees glowing in the background. From May 4, 2026, the Waterfront Promenade will be closed to cyclists due to Bay South–Bay East Bridge construction. Cyclists heading to Marina Barrage should use the alternative route around the perimeter of Bay South Garden. Pedestrians can still access the promenade with a slight diversion.
  • Perimeter paths around Bay East Garden More open and spacious with panoramic views across the bay. This area feels less crowded and is excellent for a relaxed family loop, with space for kids to ride safely while you soak in the greenery and skyline.
  • Little Steps Insider Tip: Pushing your bike while walking is sometimes okay in certain areas, but staff recommends locking it up for security. This keeps paths clear for families with strollers, toddlers learning to walk, and everyone enjoying the views safely. Always double-check the official site before your visit — construction updates can change quickly!

Best Family-Friendly Cycling Routes Nearby: Turn your Gardens by the Bay day into a full adventure with these flat, scenic routes perfect for ages 3+ (balance bikes, kids’ bikes, or family tandems):

  • Eastern Coastal Loop — A breezy 17.5km flat path with stunning views of Gardens by the Bay, connecting East Coast Park to the Sports Hub. Great for a relaxed family ride with sea breezes and photo stops.
  • Marina Bay to Marina Barrage Loop — Iconic skyline views and easy paths; many families rent kids’ bikes here.
  • Park Connector Network (PCN) trails around Marina Bay and Bay East — Link up for panoramic family photos and shaded rest areas.

Where To Rent Bikes?

  • Bike rentals (including kids’ sizes, child seats, and family options) are easy to find at East Coast Park, Marina Bay, or via apps.
  • Rates start from around SG$8–10 per hour for kids’ bikes.  We rented ours from The Esplanade’s City Scoot – it allowed us to explore the entire Marina area.
