Aquaria KLCC will enthrall families with an impressive exhibit of some 5000 aquatic and marine animals that include sea rays, sharks, and otters; it is one of few attractions in the city that’s truly world-class. Located in the basement of the KL Convention Centre, the sea complex’s highlight is its 90m giant underwater tunnel. Stand on the moving floor that snakes slowly through a glass tunnel with excellent views into the magical underwater world of tiger sharks, giant groupers, and darting moray eels and fantail rays. The bottom-up view is a great way to get up close with small sharks and large catfish that tend to linger around. There are several other exciting exhibits – touch tanks where kids can feel and touch starfish, corals, and even rays, under the guidance of the aquarium’s staff.
Turn to find Nemo into an adventure with your little ones – there is plenty of clownfish to spot throughout. There’s also the 3-meter long monster Arapaima fish that will leave kids and adults awestruck by their size. Be sure not to miss daily feeding sessions with sharks, eels, and turtles. It is quite a spectacle! Do check out the aquarium’s website for the feeding schedule. There’s a well-stocked gift shop at the exit for a souvenir to take home from your visit here.
There are always special workshops and educational activities throughout the year to boost kids’ scientific knowledge about sea creatures; plus festival-related activities such as Scuba Santa and the underwater lion dance. The newly launched Station Aquarius, which is designed like an underwater lab, consists of 4 distinct spaces that focus on different areas such as conservation, adaptation, and evolution - perfect for 6 to 17-year-olds.
Everyone!
There are also interesting programs like diving with sharks (for certified divers only), cage dives and a 'sleep with sharks' program for kids. Aquaria KLCC also organizes birthday parties (for those aged 12 and below).
Opening Hours: Daily from 10am – 7pm. Last entry 6pm.
Admission is RM49 for adults and RM39 for kids and senior citizens.
