You heard it right! US megastore and wholesaler Costco has opened a new branch in Shenzhen – conveniently located near the Shenzhen North High-Speed Rail Station (a quick 20-minute trip from West Kowloon Station)! For information on transport options from Hong Kong as well as things to do, places to eat, and where to stay in Shenzhen, check out our ultimate guide here.
The new membership-only location in Shenzhen spans a huge shopping area covering 15,000 square meters and features 4,000 brand-name products from domestic and international suppliers. So you can get your fix of fresh meat, fish, groceries, deli items, baked goods, frozen foods, alcohol, snacks, toys, household appliances, homewares, clothing, jewelry, and beauty products at competitive prices! Costco’s private label line, Kirkland Signature is also available!
At the press conference, Costco representatives emphasized that the new store will retain Costco’s trademark shopping guidelines and authentic in-store shopping experience – so expect its signature live cooking and sampling stations across the shop floor. Adding to the experience, there will be support facilities such as tire maintenance, an optometrist, and a hearing aid center, which are offered to members free of charge.
Membership information: Individuals aged 18 and older can obtain membership for a fee of ¥299 (equivalent to HK$327) per year, which includes a complimentary household card. Before the official opening of the Shenzhen warehouse on January 12, 2024, there is a special promotion offering a ¥100 (HK$109) discount. This membership can be used at any Costco warehouse across the globe. Download the Costco app and apply for a membership now, saving you the hassle of doing it in-store.
