What is Root and who is it for?
Root is an adaptive AI study companion built by Cam, a Hong Kong Grade 11 IB student. It went live in August 2026 for teens on IB, IGCSE, GCSE and A-Levels. It remembers how your child learns, uses smart visuals, and covers maths, sciences, English, humanities, languages, and computer science from about Grade 6 to 12.
Will Root do my teen’s homework?
No. Root will not finish the assignment. It asks questions, notices when an explanation misses, and teaches until they can do the work themselves. Use it as a late-night companion, not a shortcut, and keep classroom teachers in the loop for predicted grades.
How much does Root cost for Hong Kong families?
Start on a free plan with no card required, or take the five-day unlocked trial. Paid plans begin around US$18.99 a month for more messages and exam-style papers, which is far less than a typical weekly tutor hour in Hong Kong.
Can parents see what my child is studying on Root?
Work stays private and can be deleted. Teens can optionally turn on a weekly email so you see units studied and weak spots. There is no live dashboard watching every chat.
