The first school of its kind globally to invite everyone from the public to connoisseurs to explore the world of jewelry arts. L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts was established in 2012 in Place Vendôme, Paris, with the support of High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels and opened its second permanent location in K11 MUSEA in 2019.
In addition to providing courses throughout the year at the permanent Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai locations, L’ÉCOLE has expanded its educational programs worldwide with traveling editions featuring special courses, talks, publications, and exhibitions in cities such as Tokyo, New York, and Lyon.
To further demonstrate its commitment to jewelry design, L’ÉCOLE is currently undertaking several research projects and partnerships with museums and academic institutions.
With more than 20 courses available for enrollment every month, L’ÉCOLE’s creative workshops enable those aged 5 to 17 years to explore the creative professions while stimulating their imagination. Classes are all practice-based and the students experiment with skills and tools under the tutelage of highly experienced lecturers.
Courses are taught in English or Cantonese by art historians, gemologists, jewelers and artisans.
In the Create Your Jewel workshop, children choose a template from among the models offered to create something fabulously sparkly. They design, cut out, then decorate with mosaics, rhinestones, ribbons and feathers according to their inspiration.
Similarly creative is the Crowns and Swords workshop, where attendees select a template for their crown and/or word to cut out and decorate with mosaics, leather, rhinestones, ribbons, feathers or lace to make their own creations, driven by their unique style.
Children attending either of these classes must be accompanied by an adult.
For older children, there are three fabulous workshops to choose from. In Draw Some Precious Stones, attendees will discover jewelry-making tools and find themselves inside a real-world designer’s environment.
Does your child want to create a beautiful box to store their jewelry in? Then sign them up for the Make Your Own Treasure Chest workshop, where they can decorate, adorn, and customize their creation according to their personal taste.
Last but certainly not least, creative kids can join the Make Your Own Precious Clock class, where they will discover how the makers of clocks and watches find inspiration for their designs. Students will choose from one of five different templates for the face of their clock, which feature motifs inspired by nature.
Your child can then apply their clock faces to a real wooden clock and hang it on the wall of their room.
Apart from Creative Workshops for Young People, L’ÉCOLE also offers family-friendly events, exhibitions, and courses for teenagers from 13 to 17 years old. Adults are also welcome to join Jewelry courses to learn about the art of jewelry history, the world of gemstones, and savoir-faire. Click here to explore what L’ÉCOLE offers.
