Lee Tung Avenue’s Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations: Moon Fest Lumiere 2026

• What: Lee Tung Avenue's famous 18-metre-long LED fire dragon is back! Organised as the headline event of Moon Fest Lumiere, the fiesta swaps burning incense for dazzling multi-coloured LED lights, honouring the traditional fire dragon dance that forms part of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage. Expect dramatic smoke effects, an LED lion, and a drum troupe — with thunderous drums and gongs making the dragon appear to soar through clouds and mist. The procession sets off at 8:30pm from the Central Piazza, parading to the Queen's Road East and Johnston Road entrances before returning to the starting point, with scheduled performances at fixed spots along the route. Great for families who want to see a cultural tradition up close.
• When: September 25, 2026 (Mid-Autumn Festival day) from 8:30pm, lasting approximately 45 minutes.

• What: Make your own Mid-Autumn lantern on site, then use it as a prop for photos against the glowing lantern canopy. Shoppers who spend HK$300 or more on the same day with an approved electronic payment method at Lee Tung Avenue and follow its social media pages can redeem a "Mini Palace Lantern DIY Kit."
• When: Throughout the campaign period (September 4 – October 19, 2026), while supplies last.

• What: A Mid-Autumn-themed market with handmade mini lanterns, festive accessories and even mooncakes for pets — ideal for picking up thoughtful gifts for family and friends.
• When: September 12–13 and September 19–20, 2026

What: The avenue transforms into a musical stage the day after Mid-Autumn, with music groups performing in turn — FAME Singing Academy, Pooi To Middle School String Ensemble, YouthSing and Euphonos Ensemble — for an afternoon of vocal and instrumental performances.

When: September 26, 2026 from 2pm–6pm

• What: For the first time, century-old local pastry institution Hang Heung Cake Shop is opening a pop-up at Lee Tung Avenue. Inspired by traditional palace lanterns symbolising peace and happiness, it features Instagrammable installations including the giant "Golden Mooncake Moon-gazing Seat" — a recreation of the iconic mould pattern of Hang Heung's classic Double Yolk White Lotus Paste Mooncake — and the "Hang Heung Future Postbox." Make a purchase and you'll receive a limited-edition postcard to send to a loved one, or to your future self. Also new this year is the "Heart-Shaped Wife Mooncake," created in collaboration with Hong Kong actor Julian Cheung Chi-lam, mashing up Hang Heung's signature Wife Cake with a traditional mooncake in a three-dimensional heart shape — crisp pastry outside, soft sweet-savoury filling inside.
