Mark your calendar for Art Central 2019! You are invited to an explosion of art on the harbor! Culture vultures meet outdoor enthusiasts in Hong Kong’s newest art fair. Things kick off the night of March 27th!
In its fifth edition, Art Central 2019 will return to the iconic Central harbourfront from March 26-31, 2019. Art Central will welcome the art-loving Hong Kong public alongside an international audience of buyers, curators and art enthusiasts to a vibrant. The fair will feature approximately 100 leader international galleries, 75% of which will hail from across the Asia Pacific. Art Central is timed to coincide with Art Basel and the growing popularity of Hong Kong Art Week, positioning the city firmly as one of the world’s leading art hubs. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the whole art-loving clan to enjoy!
What’s in store?
FOR THE KIDS:
Make sure to check out Puerta Roja which present a group exhibition by emerging artists from Spain and Latin America, and they explore the concept of movement through different approaches to abstraction. Kids will surely enjoy the optical and kinetic art by Carlos Cruz-Diez, Fernando Pratz, and Laurent Martin. There is also a wicked experimental installation artist, Satoru Tamura who is presented by Tezukayama Gallery (Osaka). In his recent career, Tamura has been focusing on kinetic, sculptural and video works based on the theme, “The Destruction of Meaning”, perfect for kids who are little older. One very exciting artist is Heri Dono who will surely be a big hit with kiddos, he will feature his idiosyncratic paintings – which combine traditional folk art, such as motifs from shadow puppetry, with an incisive take on contemporary issues.
