Six Senses Duxton is complete with the luxury amenities and facilities to be expected at a luxury resort, including Yellow Pot restaurant, which serves up authentic, innovative Chinese cuisine. But the hotel group is also known for its focus on wellness and sustainability – and their first city hotel proves to be no different. The 49-room hotel is focused on allowing guests to prioritise wellness during their stay, while the property operates with a keen regard for it surroundings and the environment. Guests can enjoy community-based wellness activities that include neighbourhood and nature walking tours, outdoor yoga and indoor cycling classes and workshops centred around artisan coffee and Chinese tea appreciation. Local culture is infused into the property – the hotel itself is situated in a row of traditional shop-houses, expertly reconceived by British designer Anouska Hempel and rewarded by the Urban Redevelopment Authority Architectural Heritage Award, with a mix of Chinese, Malay and European elements that look to Singapore’s own heritage, but the hotel also looks to support the local community by prioritising local suppliers and entrepreneurs for various products and services.
We love Six Senses’ sustainable policies which aim to reduce waste, and increase recycling and reuse, for example by avoiding decorative flowers and plastic as far as possible and even producing their own drinking water using a state-of-the-art mineralisation machine. On the wellness side, little touches make all the difference, such as the complimentary tinctures formulated by their very own Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor which address common ailments such as insomnia or anxiety, and the turndown wellness bag complete with herbal Po Chai pills to relieve gastric issues, Tiger Balm that combats everything from beaches to insect bites, soothing nutmeg oil for muscle aches and the Six Senses Little Book of Wellness.
Wellness warriors and those looking for more sustainable stays.
Sister hotel Six Senses Maxwell, also located in Singapore, will be opening later in 2018.
