Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 is officially breaking ground, marking the start of a game-changing project set to redefine the travel experience in Singapore. More than just another terminal, T5 is an ambitious infrastructure venture designed to handle the anticipated surge in air travel and cargo over the coming decades.
While T5 is massive in scale – nearly the size of Changi Airport today – it’s been thoughtfully designed to maintain the airport’s signature cosy vibe. The roof is crafted using a series of ‘roof leaves,’ which vary in height to create welcoming, human-scaled spaces. This architectural feature allows natural light to filter through, uplifting the mood in areas like the resting lounges and shopping streets.
But it’s not just about aesthetics. The terminal will boast an automated people mover system, ensuring quick transfers between gates, arrival halls, and other terminals. For added convenience, T5 will be connected to two MRT lines, seamlessly linking it to the rest of the city.
Sustainability takes center stage at T5. With a 5.5m elevation to combat rising sea levels and a rooftop solar facility capable of powering 20,000 HDB flats for a year, Changi is setting the benchmark for green airport design.
And beyond being a transit hub, T5 aims to be a lifestyle destination. The ground transportation center will include family-friendly attractions and leisure spaces, making it a go-to spot for locals as well.
T5 combines futuristic design with family-friendly spaces, making it more than just a terminal – it’s a destination!
Travelers, families, and locals looking for new leisure spots and a glimpse into Singapore’s aviation future.
Fun fact: The solar panels on T5’s rooftop could power 20,000 4-room HDB flats annually!
