EAST COAST PARK: Activities Galore

East Coast Park is the perfect place to pitch a tent if you want to try your hand at camping but don’t want to give up your creature comforts. Camping is allowed in Area D and Area G (with a permit) where you will find public toilets and shower blocks, BBQ pits and you aren’t too far away from an array of restaurants. It’s the perfect place to entertain the kids with a bunch of activities available like swimming, cycling, playing beach volleyball, the Xtreme SkatePark, or cable skiing.

PASIR RIS PARK: Bird Watcher’s Paradise

If you are keen to camp on the quieter side of the island and immerse yourself in nature, pitch a tent in Pasir Ris Park. Camping is allowed in Area 1 and Area 3 (with a permit) and it is the perfect place to spot wildlife. This is a bird lover’s paradise with many rare birds to watch. Kids will love to get lost in the Pasir Ris Park Maze or go for a ride on a pony at Gallop Stables. Meanwhile, there is plenty for adults to do as well, like cycling and skating or taking a walk along the 6 hectares mangrove trail.

WEST COAST PARK: Adventure Playground

West Coast Park has over 50 hectares of parkland to explore and is the perfect place to camp. You can pitch a tent in Area 3 providing you have a permit. What’s great is you aren’t too far from West Coast shops and eateries, but if you are keen to cook your own food there are plenty of BBQ pits for hire. Make sure to bring your binoculars so you can go bird watching, bring a kite as there is lots of wide-open space and kids will love this place for the Adventure Playground which comprises of 8 different play areas and even has an obstacle course!

PULAU UBIN ISLAND: Old School Singapore - Rustic Camping

Pulau Ubin Island is the place to camp if you want to escape the city (10 min ferry ride from Changi Point Ferry) and experience old-school village life. It is a rustic camping experience with basic facilities i.e. the campsites are not lit and there are no showers. There are three campsites you can choose from Jelutong (closest to eateries), Mamam, and Endut Senin, and camping permits are now required for all three sites. While you are at Pulau Ubin, be sure to hike or bike around the island as there is over 100 hectare of wetlands to discover.

PULAU HANTU BESAR: Scenic Old School Island

As an alternative to Pulau Ubin, try something different on the island of Pulau Hantu Besar. Don’t be intimidated by the name (which means Ghost Island in Malay), Pulau Hantu is actually a scenic island that presents old-school vibes and endless possible activities. Adults can teach the little ones the ropes of fishing, or grab a snorkel and learn to appreciate the marine life. Note there is no regular boat that visits the island, you will need to charter your own. Also, you will need to get permission from Sentosa authorities to camp there.
