    • New Innovative Vertical Schools In Malaysia: On 19 February 2025, the Education Ministry (MOE) indicated its support for Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)'s proposal to construct high-rise schools of up to 17 storeys, commonly referred to as vertical schools, in the city centre. Malaysia plans to build multi-storey schools (up to 17 floors) in urban centers like Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Penang to combat land scarcity.     • Free High School Education Reform In Japan:  Japan's upcoming high school tuition reform, set to take effect in 2026, will make high school tuition free for both public and private institutions. This change will abolish income limits on subsidies, allowing all families with high school students to benefit from financial support. The government aims to ease the financial burden on families and increase access to education, promoting fairness in educational opportunities. However, early data from regions that have enacted similar reforms indicate potential challenges—such as increased demand for private schools, declining public school enrollments, and concerns over widening disparities. As the reform approaches, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is preparing strategies to reinforce public schools, address emerging inequalities, and ensure that all students can pursue their desired educational pathways.
