FROM KIDS TO HOMESTAY: Which LTL Winter Camp Should Your Child Choose?

Group classes at LTL are always kept small for a reason: they want your kids to actually learn the language, not just mimic what a lecturer says. Classes are purposely made interactive and fun for kids of all ages.

• What Parents Love? LTL's Winter Camps are designed around the idea of living the language, combining classroom learning with food, friendships, culture and real-world exploration.

What camps are on offer? 

• Kids Day Camp: For ages 7-11, with language classes, activities and lunch before returning to parents in the evening.
• Teen Day Camp: For ages 12-17, with students joining classes and social activities while staying with their parents at night.
• Half-Day Camp: For ages 7-17, designed for children staying with parents who want language classes without the afternoon and weekend activities.
• Residence Camp: For ages 11-17, with students staying in shared, gender-separated rooms and receiving on-site support from a programme coordinator.
• Homestay Camp: For ages 12-17, offering students their own room with a host family while giving them the chance to experience local life and practise the language every day.

Sharing lunch together is a great way for kids to get to know each other in a more informal setting. Kids regularly come back to LTL camps year after year, and the main reason for they return is that they make friends from across the globe.

Food, friendship and a love of languages:

• Eat together, not alone. Lunch at school is built into the Winter Camp day, giving students a relaxed opportunity to chat with classmates from around the world and keep practising their language outside the classroom. LTL describes the camps as a chance to experience local culture as well as learn the language.
• Food becomes part of the adventure. LTL’s camp testimonials highlight shared lunches, great local food and different lunch spots as memorable parts of the experience. In the Residence Camp, meals are shared at home, school or local restaurants, adding another everyday opportunity to experience the culture.
• Homestay adds another layer. For ages 12-17, the Homestay Camp includes breakfast and dinner with a local host family, giving students an even more immersive experience of everyday food, routines and culture.

LIVE LIKE A LOCAL: Morning Lessons, Afternoon Adventures

The idea behind LTL Winter Camps is simple: learn the language in the morning, then go out and use it. Students attend language classes before sharing lunch together and heading into the city for a different afternoon activity. On Saturdays, students can soak up the sights, sounds and smells of the city with a day trip and practise their speaking skills with locals.

Beijing combines Mandarin lessons with city exploration, Tokyo introduces students to traditional arts, pop culture and local adventures, while Seoul includes traditional neighbourhoods, historic sites and even wearing Hanbok at the city’s palaces.
