*Hong Kong International School is a private, co-educational day school for ages 4 to 18, Reception 1 through Grade 12. The programme is American-style, with 26 Advanced Placement courses in high school, not the IB Diploma. From 2025-26 it also offers a Dual Language Immersion option in the lower years. Two campuses on the south side of Hong Kong Island. Reception 1 to Grade 5 are at 23 South Bay Close, Repulse Bay. Grades 6 to 12 are at 1 Red Hill Road, Tai Tam. The school lists more than 3,100 students from over 45 nationalities, and a mix of faith backgrounds. School bus is available and sits outside tuition.

What's the philosophy, in a nutshell?

An American-style education grounded in the Christian faith, and respectful of the spiritual lives of all. The school puts it as minds to inquiry, hearts to compassion, and lives to service and global understanding.

Admissions are selective. The school can limit enrolment, and select applicants sit a pre-entry assessment. Reception and Grades 1 to 2 are in person. Grades 3 to 12 use a computer-based assessment in math, reading, writing and oral language. A debenture is optional and does not guarantee a place. It puts a qualified applicant at the top of the wait pool.

What's Next For Hong Kong International School?

What's on the horizon?  Facilities that match the whole-student brief. The Dragon Center for Activities and Athletics, a nine-floor building for athletics and community events, opened in October 2025. A 1000-seat Performance Hall and Music Center is planned to open in late 2028 with flexible seating and acoustics on the Tai Tam campus.

How will the award shape what comes next? The school reads the two awards as a check on the direction it already named: educational excellence and responsible global citizenship. The Gold is tied to student-centered American learning. The Bronze is tied to stewardship in school life, leadership and learning. The form does not spell out a new programme launched because of the win.
