Each year, the YRF extends an invitation to writers and illustrators to deliver captivating talks and workshops in schools throughout Hong Kong, providing an exceptional opportunity for students to engage with renowned storytellers from around the globe. This unique experience enables students to meet and interact with some of the most esteemed creators of our time, fostering inspiration and a deeper appreciation for the art of storytelling.
The Young Readers Festival School Programme for 2024 features a captivating lineup of 24 authors from Hong Kong and around the world, who will present enlightening talks and workshops. Among the esteemed authors participating this year are Dan Santat, the winner of the 2023 National Book Award and a New York Times-bestselling author. Rashin Kheiriyeh, who has been nominated for the 2023 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her remarkable contributions to children’s literature, will also be present. Muhammad Najem, an internationally recognized journalist and activist from Eastern Ghouta, Syria, will share his insights and experiences as well. Alina Chau, the recipient of the 2023 Best Middle-Grade Graphic Novel Sakura Award in Japan, will join them, along with other talented authors like Jessixa Bagley, Rachel Ip, Alina Chau, Jonathan Case, Cherie Dimaline and others. Their presentations and discussions are sure to inspire students in schools across Hong Kong.
