As technology continues to reshape the world, children need more than academic knowledge to navigate an uncertain future. At The International Montessori School (IMS), Montessori education places human qualities such as concentration, emotional intelligence, independence and critical thinking at the heart of learning.
Through hands-on discovery, bilingual immersion and an environment that encourages self-direction, children develop both academic skills and a lasting curiosity about the world. As IMS celebrates 25 years in Hong Kong, its AMI-accredited approach offers a thoughtful foundation for children to grow into confident, adaptable and resilient learners.

The Scoop – What to Expect:
The International Montessori School (IMS) is the only accredited bilingual Montessori school in Hong Kong for children aged 1 to 14. IMS follows an authentic Montessori approach, with children learning through hands-on, self-paced and child-led experiences. English and Mandarin are used throughout the school day, with AMI-trained Montessori educators supporting each child’s individual development.
IMS Hong Kong offers an authentic, bilingual Montessori curriculum, with children learning in both English and Chinese throughout the school day. The curriculum covers areas including language, mathematics, science, history, geography, physical education, music and visual arts, with learning adapted to each child’s developmental stage. Students aged 12-14 can also follow the school’s Montessori Middle School programme, which combines rigorous academics with interdisciplinary, project-based learning and real-world experiences.
IMS has four Montessori campuses in Hong Kong: Stanley, Mid-Levels, South Horizons and Aldrich Bay. Stanley serves children aged 2-14, while Mid-Levels and Aldrich Bay serve children aged 2–6 and South Horizons serves children aged 1-6 years
IMS welcomes children from 1 to 14 years. Programmes include Montessori First Steps for ages 1-2 years, Foundation for ages 2-3 years, Casa dei Bambini for ages 3–6 years, Elementary for ages 6-12 years and Middle School for ages 12–14 years.
Your journey with IMS begins with an immersive campus tour, a hands-on Montessori trial, or an Open Day visit. Applications for children aged 1 to 14 are welcome year-round through the school’s online portal. Depending on your child’s age group, it may invite them for an interactive school visit and personalized assessment.
As technology accelerates, the qualities children need to thrive remain deeply human. At the International Montessori School (IMS), carefully designed Montessori materials, hands-on discovery and mixed-age classrooms help children develop concentration, agency, empathy and critical thinking alongside academic understanding.
Teachers create an environment where children can work independently, support one another and develop confidence through purposeful activity. The result is an approach designed to build strong foundations for learning while nurturing the human qualities that technology cannot replace.
Montessori Learning In A Digital World:
At IMS, English and Mandarin are part of everyday classroom life, with dual native educators supporting children through a genuine bilingual environment. Language develops alongside hands-on discovery, so children build communication skills while exploring Montessori materials, sounds and textures.
The Scoop On Bilingual Learning:
IMS has built its reputation over 25 years, supported by experienced educators and a community of more than 11,000 alumni. Its long-standing Montessori foundation continues to shape an approach focused on confidence, concentration and independence.
Experienced educators draw on the school’s authentic Montessori approach to help children develop the focus, confidence and grace needed for their next stage of education, including transitions to schools around the world.
