Strawberry Picking Season In Hong Kong: December – April
A short walk away from the ferry pier lies endless organic gardens owned by farming hobbyist and organic food lovers that all live in Discovery Bay. Grandpa’s Garden is run by an elderly couple who sells whatever vegetables, herbs and fruits according to the season and it’s a perfect escape for DB families and visitors, too. You can rent your own plot of land or you can roll up your sleeves and pick what’s available.

Living Farm is located in Tai Po and is very suitable for families and cultivators. Here you can experience urban farming at its best with friends and family. They are fully equipped and can provide you with farming tools, organic fertilizers, soil, and seeds. They have caring services, meaning you can either choose to take care of your own crops yourself or let the farm do it. You can choose to take away the harvest or share them with other farmers. At Living Farm, they provide Organic Farming Classes where each student will be assigned a farm plot for practice.
Go Green Organic Farm was established in 2010 and aims to promote green, organic, low carbon environmental farming. In 2017 they launched their new theme called "Organic Pineapple Park," and they even created their own adorable mascot called "Pi Pi," which is a combination of two real farm icons - their lovely goat (Little Goat) and their pineapples! Inside the Organic Pineapple Park, you can find pineapple decorations, a blessing board, and a wishing tree. Families can participate in different kinds of pineapple workshops and handicrafts. You can even make your own "Pi Pi"!
Au Law Organic Farm has over a 100,000 sqft of farmland and is located in Dajiangpu Village, Kam Tin, Yuen Long. This beautiful and organic farm produces for direct customers, restaurants, and other farmers. They are in operation from Monday to Friday, bright and early at 6am, where customers can purchase their fresh fruit and vegetables. On Saturday is when the guided tours take place, where families can orientate themselves with organic farming and taste the lovely produce for themselves, they even have a Mobile App so you can directly order food.
Pick ruby red strawberries on this farm’s 300,000 sqft of bountiful fields, which can be filled with 200 wannabe farmers daily. These gorgeous fresh strawberries can be bought by the pound while they’re in season from December until the end of April. Throughout the year, you can also pick other items including peanuts, choi sum, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, and watermelon. Your wee ones will also have a ball at the petting zoo and feast afterward at the barbecue area.

Kam Tin Country Club’s 100,000 sqft of fields grow strawberries from different countries. You can purchase beautiful strawberries from either France or Korea by the pound (Korean strawberries are slightly more expensive). If your kids are still bursting at the seams with energy after working the fields, take them to the children’s playground, bouncy castle or petting farm onsite. For adrenaline-loving families, they can also arrange war games and other sporting activities.

You guessed it… this farm focuses on bounties of fragrant fresh herbs! This farm is located on Lamma Island, perfect for a day trip to one of the outlying islands. At Herboland there are lots of activities arranged for kids to get them in touch with farming, from planting to caring for the farm animals that live on the property. For crafty kids, they also offer soap-making courses for kids and teens. Make sure to buy your fresh herbs here, of course, ranging from teas to cooking herbs.
